just before sunrise Photo

Photographer’s Note

When I opened the door of the hut I had been renting, I was happy to see the dense fog that would not leave us all day long : this village in the hills and all the other ones seen that day were totally in the clouds... This is the first photo that I took that day.

Impossible to call this photo "morning call", as it has a special meaning in India that I'll not explain here... But yet it would have been an appropriate title, the young woman in the FG was calling someone, she is there waiting for the answer. More about the youngster on the right another day. In the morning there was a constant traffic of women (sometimes even men, but more rarely) carrying water from the only fountain for the whole village (BG).

(Again, don't know very well how to PP the sky in those "foggy" photos and I would be grateful for any advice as I have so many of them, thanks in advance !)

magnifique photo Cath avec ce léger brouillard qui entoure cette jeune femme, le jour se lève sans doute et toi déjà debout aussi, les meilleures images se font de bonne heure...bravo encore

Bonjour Catherine,

Une photo vraiment tres belle. J adore l ambiance douce amenée par l eclairage diffusée a travers la brume. De ce point de vue, je trouve que ton choix de reglage est tres bon et que le rendu du ciel est agreable. Je suis d accord avec toi ce type de ciel est tres delicat a gerer mais ici je ne changerais rien.
La photo est tres bien habitée avec un bon placement des personnages qui se chevauchent pas: tu as declenché au bon moment.
Le seul petit defaut, mais vraiment mineure, c est le bout de toit en haut a gauche qui semble venir de nul part. Je l aurais bien enlevé d un coup de tampon. D un autre coté, comme tu as realisé une photo de reportage, voir de temoignage, d un point de vue ethique (meme si le mot est un peu fort ici), je n ai pas trop transformer ce type d image en dehors du reglage basiques tels que niveau, courbe et saturation.
Une photo que j aurai aimé avoir faite,

well, personaly i like the fog as it is here... milky, dense atmosphere is clearly portraying the fog and i do not see any need for additional postprocessing but i'd listen eagerly to the others' advices...

She appears so still and inanimated that from the thumbs I thought she's a statue!!!! The haze and the light conditions have been well exploited by you this time an the composition as usual is superb

Quelle super atmosphere dans cette photo. J'adore la position et 'titude de la dame. la brume environnant plonge dans un ceratin mystere. J'aime beaucoup.

Formidable brume deriere et le portrait distingue de la dame a gauche. L'autre dame au deuxieme plan est aussi la bienvenue sur cette composition. Le garcon a pu passer. L'image qui m'a retenu quelques bons moments. Merci chere Catherine, amicalement

Hello Catherine,
The woman looks really statuesque in her rather stiff posture against the foggy background. The woman in green sari in the background also looks almost unreal. The small parts of the roof jutting into the picture from the left are slightly disturbing, but I see no reason for any PP of the fog. It looks great to me.

love this foggy morning atmosphere,indeed a special atmosphere and nice that you was there in the moment and the poeple were ,too.
well captured and composed and great one,like it.
PS: about pp for foggy situation,I think a result like this in the shot is fine,sometime some pp steps can injure the shot,make a thing like overexopsing,I think you don't need more than this here,keep the foggy atmosphere.

Je comprends que l'on aime ces ambiances brumeuses et humides. C'est tellement fort. Et j'imagine assez facilement la paix de l'endroit et du moment... Il n'y pas grand chose en terme de compo, mais l'ambiance, elle, est nickel (encore plus si on a connu cela !).

on ressent pleinement l'atmosphere des matins calmes a travers cette photo, les bruits sont feutrés par le brouillard et tout semble suspendu intemporellement.

la photo est tres bien comme ça et elle restitue parfaitement l'ambiance.

j'adore la lumiere de matin et l'mabiance que tu as capture ici. Je pense que tu devrais couper un peu pour eliminer le toit a gauche et le mec a droit pour accentuer le sensation de solitude et calm
