Photographer’s Note

It rained the whole afternoon, this weekly market was in the clouds, I stepped out of the damp bus on an impulse.

Took plenty of photos just to remember what I saw : tribal people in their colourful clothes with umbrellas, seas of umbrellas, and everyone laughing, smiling, happy despite the rain – the air was full of fun and lightness… My IXUS became almost as wet as me (soaked till the bones, really !), the LCD foggy, fortunately I had the spare one with me and carried on shooting a bit randomly...

Not sure of this type of photo - just for the sake of colours...

Great colours Catherine - they do count! You have really captured the atmosphere of a wet market day.

ohhhhhhhhh, j aime beaucoup cette photo, les gens de dos, les parapluies prennent la premiere place dans limage, la mousson est presente..des couleurs vives, enfin c est l inde. tres belle photo, merci pour cela

bonjour catherine
malgré la pluie les couleurs sont remarquables, on hesite souvent a faire des photos par temps de pluie et pourtant le résultat ici nous prouve le contraire.

tu as tort de te poser des questions sur ce type de photos,car c'est vraiment superbe!J'ai un livre de Steeve Mcurry dans lequel il n'a fait que des photos de mousson!Ta photo est très représentative de l'Inde,et même s'il pleut,les couleurs sont superbes,ainsi que la lumière qui les fait parfaitement ressortir!Ca aurait vraiment été dommâge de ne pas la poster!

Surprisingly, some shots I've taken in the rain, have been more popular, than those with blue skies! Wonderful color, sharpness & framing. Good repetition of the umbrellas & colourful saris. Tfs!

Hello Catherine,
How refreshing seeing for once a group of people all turning their back on the photographer. The black umbrellas break the almost monotonous brightness of Indian colours. And I actually think that the rain and cloudy sky brings out the colours better than sunshine.

très bon rendu des couleurs, comme quoi on peut faire de belles prises sous la pluie, même si pour une photo de gens personne ne regarde vers toi

The atmosphere is so palpable I feel transported right there in the mud and soaked upon. Lovely colors and excellent composition. You surely getting around the globe :-)

Tres belles couleurs sans soleil. La preuve que le soleil n'est pas necessaire pour inspirer les couleurs. Moi, je crois toujours le contraire. Tres interessant, meme sans un visage. Toi aussi, tu as bien reussi une photo "pieds nus". Mes felicitations et remerciements,

That red muddy ground and the black umbrellas...
I can hardly recall a better color combination in photography than these...
Black and golden yellow...?
Rusty brown and rotten green...?
The mood is there... Your shoes splashing the red clay of the soil...
