[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's a view of the whole lake of Kastoria (or Orestiada Lake) with the town of Kastoria in the middle. Photo taken from the top of a mountain, which locals claims that it's a giant head of Alexander the Great. This peak is also known as "Psalida". The weather conditions weren't the best possible, although it was a very windy day, as you can possibly see on the lake surface, the atmosphere wasn't very clear, but since it was my last day in the region, I had to take the photo. Eitherway, I don't know if I had the courage to climb up there one more time (hey I am a heavy smoker, after all).

" The lake of Kastoria, one of the most beautiful in the Balkans, is directly linked to the character, history and development of the city. It has been classified as “Monument of Natural Beauty” by the Ministry of Culture and it has been integrated in the European Network “Nature 2000”.

It covers an area of about 28 square kilometres and its maximum depth is 9.5 metres. In the region, there are nine streams flowing into the lake. The largest one of them is the stream of Xeropotamos.

Apart from the streams and the rain water, Orestiada lake is also supplied by several underwater springs. It is a wetland of great importance for both aquatic and predator birds, since this is where they reproduce, feed and winter.

It preserves a rich bird fauna – about 200 species – including rare and endangered species, protected by international and national law. The most typical species are pygmy cormorants and Dalmatian pelicans, four species of herons, mute swans, wild ducks, night herons, cormorants and many waterside birds.

Apart from the large number of birds inhabiting the lake, it is the only lake in Greece where one meets an important area of lakeside forests of hydrophilic trees, consisting one of the most rare habitats in Europe.

The lake of Kastoria is the second most productive lake in Greece in terms of fishing. The fish species inhabiting the lake are the following: carp, perch, chub, tench, wells, muskellunge, roach and butterfly ray."

a great high POV to show the whole beauty in a wonderful toning from red/brown to blue. The lake is very nice presented in this one and you got great clouds for the final in the sky. Wonderful light and details, especially in the large one.

Many contrasts and colors, it is really very beautiful.
Thank you for this journey much easier for us.
It is true that rise in the top of a mountain is sometimes hard, but which happiness to see a sight as this one. Sometimes it is like that that we decide to stop smoking!!! (I managed to stop and nevertheless I smoked more than 2 packages a day, then, I am sure that you can reach there also!)

el ángulo utilizado es muy ancho y nos ofrece una visión panorámica realmente impresionante. El lago es muy bonito, y la ciudad en el medio tiene un aspecto magnífico. He visto otras fotos tuyas de este lugar y desde luego que vale la pena visitarlo.

Amigo Hercules, y que quieres que te diga de ésta grandiosa imagen sin caer en el aburrimiento de los típicos tópicos. Es brutal!, aunque bien mirado, lo que me sobra es ese campo de deportes que le quita encanto es éste idílico paraje. Eres bueno tío, muuuy bueno.
