Dalat is a hilltown about 5000' above sea level (1500m?) Viet Nam was part of French colonial Indochine. Perhaps one of the French members of TE can tell me if this old church built between 1931-42 ad, is modelled or copied from a particular building in France? (The cross is 47m above ground level). The polarizing filter's effect has been accentuated by the high altitude (1500 m) & unpolluted air.

I liked the 2 green pine trees parodied by the artificial twin spires of the church, or l'eglise.

Nice strong colours Chris. I like the two dark pines which strengthen the composition. And well done on the 5000 points!

The shadows of trees on the Cathedral seems to be red? Good Colours and contrast+lights. I like two green spruce trees on left.
Very well done again Chris.
Cheers, Don.

Good shotting position of the tower, great compo with the light, sky and clouds. Well done Chris

Very good composition of the church with 2x2 upward-reaching elements (two spires, two trees) and a magnificent color setting, not the least in the fabulous polarized sky. The shadow effects on the church façade are not bad either ... Well done, Chris.

Hi Chris, I was rather amazed to see that this church stands in Vietnam. It has indeed a lot of similarities with "young" French and Flemish churches. When I look more closely, I can see some details that are more oriental though. Of course the French had their say for quite some time in Indochine, so that explains it. If you want the specialist on french churches, you should contact papagolf. He will probably be able to help you further.
About the picture: I like the perspective and the colours on the church, but especially the shadows on the tower; it's a very good element.
PS: tu parles francais? Intéressant!

the colour of the sky is great! the light and shadow on the cathedral make good atmosphere. i like colors combination in this photo. it seems the cathedral is on the top of the world because i don t see the ground.

par contre l'entrée semble de style mauresque ( style of Muslims of Spain before the reconquiesta )

very symmetrical picture with a nice touch of graphism. nice colors and pov too :)

Chris,
the easthetic beauty of the image has been mentioned in many comments already, so no need to repeat it.
For me this message carries a strong feeling. When I looked at the image before even reading the note I saw pain or suffering if you will expressed by red shadows, your comment about the colony, where being ruled by foreignes can't be pleasent or gratifying, proves that may initial insticts may have been correct.
Peter

Hi Chris,
This is a beautiful shot with rich and bright colors.
The point of view is really making the photo here.
The strong vertical lines are guiding the eye toward the sky, with those beautiful blue clouds. The background is really good.
The dof is fine.
The composition, with the green trees on the left, is perfect giving the contrast with the blue of the sky and the red of the cathedral.
Bravo !
Amicalement,
Michaël
