This is an early morning view of Lijiang in far western China. Still a slight dampness in the old stone streets as people begin their daily lives. Lijiang is an authentic (mostly) "old town" of China. An enchanting place with some commercialism. Overlooking that one can wonder for hours along the old narrow streets ... a photo op at every turn.

Hi David,

Nice shot of Lijiang, the foreground is really nice and the man walking away adds to the image. The sky is a bit burnt out mind, and the light management could have been better considered, but it's still a nice shot and thanks for adding it.

I was here myself about 2 months ago and I guess it was worth visiting, but I find your description of the place interesting. It's certainly not the image of Lijiang I left with. Authentic and with some commercialism is perhaps being a bit kind, as from what I saw 100% of the buildings within the entire UNESCO protected part is one of three things; a shop, a hotel, or a restaurant. As far as I could tell not one single person actually lives in this area, and many of the supposedly old buildings are actually just new buildings made to look like old ones. But this is just my opinion I guess, and many people would see it differently.

To anyone visiting this area of the Yunnan I would highly recommend visiting Dali over Lijiang (very near) as it's retained much more of an authentic feel, but once again this is just my opinion!

Regards, and thanks for showing
Lee
