| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a photograph taken from the roof of the Exedra hotel in the Piazza Della Repubblica in Rome.
This piazza was constructed in 1901 with crescent buildings around the near side. The fountain is called the Fountain of the Naiads and features 4 nymphs and a central statue of the fisherman Glauco (A close-up of Glauco is here). .
The fountain has very subtle and well placed lighting at night so I was really keen to get this shot. The photograph was quite tricky to take because there is a plastic curtain around the roof of the hotel which I had to reach through. There was nowhere to put a tripod, so the slow exposure time made this quite challenging.
Very little post-production has been done on this, I just removed a handful of small distracting light sources and some jpeg artifacts. |

Hi John,
Excellent photo.
You give us a different (and unique) POV of this place.
I like the effect of long exposure and the effect of the water in the fontain.
Compliments,
CeccoPhoto!!
A well done night image, compliments, technically is excellent in contrast and colors, and well shows the beauty of the square.
Ciao
Vinicio
