Photographer’s Note

A small farm donated to the Franciscan monks and turned into a monastic retreat was the origin of the aristocratic neighborhood of La Recoleta. Towars 1730, the Church of the Pilar was built as the convent church. Today it is the church of the porteño high society as well as one of the best preserved. The monastery became an asylum and its recycled wings were turned into a busy cultural center and design gallery.
