The fortification and the town Fredrikstad was founded in 1567, during the reign of King Fredrik II, after Swedish troops had burnt Hellig Sarpefossen. The new town was named after the King, and was placed by the mouth of the river Glomma, a promising site for a market town. Today there are 67,000 inhabitants in Fredrikstad. The Old Town is placed on the eastside and the modern town on the westside of the River Glomma.

Here some Sunday strollers in old town

Agreable shot. Good light and colors, nice environment and great perspective. Very well done Jack!
Fine Shot.

Interesting architecture of the old town. I like these tiles which call remind those "Flemish", this attic window fitted out in the height and its wooden blades (essentage in French) dressed in painting.
Very interesting sight Jack including the daily way of life.
Thank you for the sharing.

Nicely note Jack, and a splendid building, but the pans on the roof, knows you where these are made? Because these typical flemish are. Good composition and soft colours.

Nice scene from Fredrikstad, Jack, with this beautiful old building on the street corner. The pedestrians give a lively touch without taking away the overall serene Sunday mood, and the shot is very crisp in the way the different textures and colors on the building and pavement are rendered.

Nice daily life picture, Jack! You framed very well the house and the people. Bravo!

Nice daily life shot, interesting close up on this house with action around, nice colors and sharpness, well seen.
