Photographer’s Note
"In a short while from now we would be landing in Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar" would have been the announcement inside the Lion Air flight, which was about to land in Bali’s airport.
I could guess what the passengers of Lion Air were feeling...that the plane is about to land into the sea. The runway is so close to the water that you can see the waves crashing into the walls of the embankment.
Note the runway, jutting into the sea. In fact in the years 1965 to 1969 the runway was lengthened to 2700 metres (the present length is 3000 meters) , reclaiming about 1000 meters of the sea. In 1969, the airport, formerly known as Tuban Airport was renamed as Ngurah Rai Airport.
I managed to capture this from our plane window. We were sitting in our Malaysian Airways flight, waiting in the queue for takeoff. It marked the end of our Bali trip & we were really sorry to leave the Island of Gods. But like everything good, this too had to come to an end & a few moments later, it did. I also have to start drawing the curtains to my Bali Travellogue (long continuing :-) 77 pictures posted)...this is a post marking the beginning of the end.

Hi Angshu,
I like the beuatiful shades of the blue-green sea and the blue sky with its lovely clouds. T the runway and the fance frame the scene while the plane provides a fine focal point. Ther compo is amazing clean & clear; it's hard to believe it was shot through an airplane window. The note is full of detail.

Hello Angshu, it is always impressing the overflight of such a plane above the beach, the airport of Ngurah Rai was undoubtedly a small airport, maintaining with tourism of mass the plane on takeoff are increasingly larger but the infrastructure of Ngurah Rai, Denpasar forces largest plane to shave the ground in order to be able to land on small track, beautiful photo and beautiful opportunism, sincerely................Hello Angshu, il est toujours impressionnant le survol d’un tel avion au-dessus des plage, l’aéroport de Ngurah Rai était sans doute un petit aéroport, maintenant avec le tourisme de masse les avion au décollage sont toujours plus gros mais les infrastructure de Ngurah Rai, Denpasar force les plus gros avion à raser le sol afin de pouvoir atterrir sur de petite piste, belle photo et bel opportunisme, bien amicalement

hello Angshuman,
from fiery desert to blue see, what a contrast :) completely different mood that in your previous post, here the layers of emerald green and blue create a feeling of wide open space and remind me of brush strokes of an expressive painter :) I like a lot how fresh and clear the scene feels, and I'd add "decisive moment" as a category, capturing that plane just moments before it lands gives the whole new meaning to the photo - excitement and anticipation of a great time on this Island of Gods :) excellent work, my compliments.
with kind regards,
Kristine

Hello "Mr. B"
A ubiquitous view for so many air travelers, but this one is very interesting, right off the coast. Your note is very interesting, especially since you have provided the evolution of the site, to meet the needs of the larger planes. I flew in Malaysian Airways from Seoul to Kuala Lumpur in 2000, and I was very much impressed by the quality of the service, just as good as the legendary Singapore Airlines.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Angshu
You got a clean window for this clear shot! Nice sharpness and excellent colors... and a somehow quite sad note! Good use of the rule of thirds.

Great depth in the image, espcially with the very small size of the otherwise large plane about to land.
All the best,

Quite an interesting shot Angshu despite just taken from the window of an airplane and the result is very good. It sounds like we have a different feeling between moment to land and waiting for takeoff and your picture has figured that. A simple nice shot but your note is always informative, thanks.

Bonjour, mon ami Angshu,

Hi Angshuman,
Your note has a good explanation related to the landing of the aircraft. A good action shot of the aircraft on final for landing at Ngurah Rai airport. The point of view leads our eyes toward the aircarft and the beginning of the runway. The beach and the sea in the foreground are a good addition to the composition. The light brings out the warm colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Angshuman,
Taking photos is a productive way to fill in time while waiting for the take off ... lucky you were allowed to have your camera on :) You've captured this scene well considering you were very constrained in your angle of shot. Good application of the rule-of-thirds. Well composed with good image and color quality. Well done! tfs

Certains arrivent, d’autres partent…

Excellente répartition ciel / mer,

Cette photo est simple mais très belle à voir avec les couleurs de la mer et du ciel et cet avion qui arrive.
Bien vu !

Hi Angshuman,
An excellent setting in which you have captured the dynamic scene of the landing of this plane, a maneuver that always I am afraid.
The different blue tones give a nice plot on this landscape of sky and sea, very well illuminated and with great quality of image.
Great photo, my friend, I like by its simplicity and its visual attraction.
Friendly regards,
Josep

It can't be good for the nerves of people of people who don't like flying to see that the runway is actually in the sea! It's a different take on the "shot from the plane window" genre, and is amazingly clear and detailed. Perfect timing as the plane came in to land.
Well done

Hi Angshuman
I remember this viewpoint. I didn't think much of the beach at Kuta, which was anticlimactic, after Southern Thailand. Beaches on Lombok & the Gili Islands were far better imho. Good timing to catch the incoming jet. Excellent sharpness & color. Tfs!

Hello Angshu!
Great picture of the Denpasar - airport. Though I haven´t been there for three years I can still recognize it very well. You took the picture in the exactly right moment, I like the colors, the contarst and the sharpness very much.

Beautiful light and colors.
