The romanian village life is pretty interesting I think,
maybe I'll show more in the future, this is the only photo
that I took going in a picturesque village near my city.
It reminds me of some films made by Kusturica.

An interesting capture. I like the drying carpets.
A scene so familiar all over the Balkans.

interesting - usually i'm strongly against partial desaturation process but here i like the way you separated the carpets adding them some extraordinary meaning - they look as if they were some kind of protection curtain...
nice work, horatiu...
best wishes, j.

markgong (2840) 2008-04-23 21:35
Good photo Horatiu, but I think the stone on the bottom right of the frame takes away from the photo. Also, I like the barren, skeleton like trees in the back. The photo looks like it was cropped vertically, did the original one have the top of the trees?
Also, do you have any other photos from this lovely bridge from another angle? I mention this because you mention that this is the only photo you took going into the village. The bridge and carpet are killer, but I wish you worked this scene more, perhaps from other angle and with other villagers to see what other surprises could of came up.

Hi Mister, wow Mister!
Your pp is so successfull that, i cannot take my eyes of the soft colors. Interesting framing as well, curious idea of leaving the top in black.
The composition is really stunning, and the place so interesting. Indeed a Kusturican atmosphere, mostly realted to the Balkan Gypsies.
ps: hope you are ok. nowadays, you don't seem to be in a joyous mood.

Hello dear Horatiu,
This is a great one of yours. Like everything is coming together of your skills. I love the PP and the composition with that diagonal and the water flowing. Definetely Kusturica like, lots of mood.
Be happy friend:-)

Kusturica ? Well - you know better.
Well done. I have to say even though I do not like usually that playing with partial saturation. The effect here is astonishing and worth of praising. Great.

You found the right title here, this scene seems to come from a movie from Emir Kusturica.
I ike tones and light you caught, nice mood.

That's a good one. Excellent colours and composition with a simple daily life view.

"It reminds me of some films made by Kusturica."... C'est tout à fait exact !
Ici je suis surpris par cette étrange barre noire en haut de ton image, je crois bien que c'est un peu trop original pour moi...(;
Sinon j'aime cette scène notamment du fait de ton PP qui semble avoir procédé à un dégradé...

interesting scene of daily life. Very good atmosphere, as you say, like the movies of Kusturica. Excellent capture and framing

The scene is simple for itself but your PP work turned it into something very cinematic, in fact, what you say in your note reminds me some of Kusturica's movies.
I like a lot to play with partial desaturation even though folks here doesn't appreciate it too much, but I think that when it's well aplied it works quite well, and your photo is a fine example of how using it.

nice to know you are familiar with Kusturica work. :) And this shot does reminds of his movies. It is excellent capture, combining so many great motives, but ones stepping out are rugs and worried faces of women clearly feeling cold. Love disaturation, although I would left the foreground of similar greenish sepia as in background.
