The peoples person. You know the type that go around picking up friends like stray pets. The type who see long queues in the bank as the perfect opportunity to share life stories and valuable little pieces of information with complete strangers...like how to fix a washing machine with a piece of twine, a copper coin, 2 wax crayons and band aid.
And he undoubtedly saw two European ladies as the perfect opportunity to practice his German...better still, after discovering that we were indeed English speaking South Africans to welcome us by telling us stories of an old friend he had met many years back from Johannesburg. Our conversation was littered with ailing memories of his days in university, revolution, Nelson Mandela and his wife...
He proceeded to insist on paying our taxi fair.
Thumbs up for the man in the middle.

interesting, full of life close-up, one feels like sitting there in front of the middle man and his buddies. I like the strong white light, the contrast, the natural attitudes. Good choice of the b/w. Maybe a tiny bit too sharp, but that's a detail.
Nice lively note.
TFS, Best regards

Hi Tamarin, an interesting shot from a little-known part of our world. I like the grainy quality of this photo, it really bring out the time-worn character of the man's face. Well done! Regards, Ryno

I like this scene showing these guy's expressions, and the noise in the image. A classic.

It's a beautiful thing, humanity, at its finest. Never should we want when a single soul offers his hand...
I heard a wonderful thing tonight...a person, a romantic interest, told a friend that he wanted to "tell her his story". Such a simple statement, but weighted with such affection and vulnerability. There is a joy in conversation and interaction that some cannot contemplate...many times I'm told that "I talk too much". Usually daily.
I don't think so...
A wonderful photograph Tamarin.

You certainly know what to do with a photo once is done, Tamarin...
The final presentation ?
To my absolute delight !
The palette of grays - a pure diamond in the shades of pale.

Hello Tamarin. A further of your photos worth seeing from Yemen. The motive of the three men succeeded very much. Impressing is however above all the technical quality of the photo. The light works particularly well. Outstanding. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Tamarin, you have made the most of this image with the B&W and grainy treatment. Great interaction between these men. I particularly like the face on the left, with its typical Yemeni features. Cheers, Steve

It's a very good shot! I love the sensation of promiscuity there and the fact that nobody looks in the same direction, but all have a mouth rictus/smile. Excellent B&W too. The grains adds to the scene some photo-journalism effect.

Awesome story and I'm glad you met this wonderful man. Technically speaking there is nothing wrong with the shot, but I do wish that the hand is slightly more to the left of the frame to create a little separation with the hand and his face. I'm sure it was difficult to get the shot with the car moving, speed bumps, the conversation, and two other subjects to evaluate...but as you probably already guessed, I'm picky :)
I love the expression and the items in the other men's laps. Just a wonderful.

Again a great portrait, very expressive. Great textures and tones and very intimate.
I am adding you to my faves

Hey! I don't like so much B&W shots, specially in places where colors are bright and can be so fascinating but I like the way you caught this spontaneous moment of conversation, the essence of the daylife in public transportation in Yemen. Good capture.

What a GREAT photo about daily life. This photo seems so real like i am there sitting opposite them.
Your composition is fabulous and the black and white works perfectly in this photo.
Very well done!
