Photographer’s Note

On the day I took this picture, my Dad, Sister, and I had intended to go on a difficult, long hike in this part of Jasper. Unfortunately, we were intimidated by signs warning us that there were grizzly bears in the area. My Dad, who is obsessed with hiking, wanted to ignore the signs, but upon noticing the berry bushes (berries are a favorite food of bears) flanking the trail, we decided it would be best to turn around. So, we instead went on a walk around Maligne Lake. In the end, we were really glad that there were bears in the area - if there hadn't been, we wouldn't have seen this beautiful lake! The history of this lake is interesting, too!
