From Nysa - I Photo

Photographer’s Note

From today onwards some captures from the antique city of Nysa, in western Anatolia, where the famous geographer Strabon spent most of his life.
Here a scene with row of columns of the agora.

Nysa is one of Karia cities within the borders of the Sultanhisar District of Aydın im western Anatolia. We obtain the most important information about the city from Strabon who lived in Nysa most of his life. Strabon told that the city consisted of two parts. At the western side of a flood bed dividing the city into two, lays a gymnasium. At the northern side lay the Byzantine ruins and a library. To the north of the library, there is a theatre that carries an importance with its embossments in the stage building. An odeon and bouleuterion are at the eastern side of the flood bed. The necropolis of the city lies on the way to Akharaka, which is a small village in the west.

Bügünden itibaren, Batı Anadoludaki önemli antik çağ yerleşimlerinden biri olan Nisa antik kentinden birkaç görüntü yollayacağım. Antik çağın en önemli coğrafya bilimcisi Strabon'un yaşadığı şehir. Bu karede agora'dan bir görüntü görüyosunuz.

Nysa antik kenti, Aydın’ın Sultanhisar ilçesine yakın bir yerleşim yeridir. Bu kentle ilgili en önemli bilgileri, yaşamının büyük bölümünü bu kentte geçiren ve antik çağın en önemli bilim adamlarından biri olan Strabon’dan öğreniyoruz. Strabon’a göre şehir iki bölümden oluşur. Geniş bir kanyonun ikiye böldüğü şehrin batı tarafında gimnasium yer alır. Kuzey tarafında ise Bizans döneminden kalınıtlar ve bir kütüphane vardır. Küyüphanenin kuzeyinde ise yamaca yapılmış büyük bir tiyatro vardır ki , en önemli yanı sahne yapısıdır. Dere yatağının doğu tarafında ise bir odeon ve buleterion yer alır. Şehrin nekropolü (mezarlığı) ise, batı tarafındaki küçük Akharaka köyü yakınlarındadır.

Hallo Mesut!
Ich mag normalerweise keine S/W-Fotos, weil unsere Welt, Gott sei Dank, nicht S/W ist - aber hier passt es. Du hast ein wunderschönes Licht erwischt. Die Szenerie ist wirklich eindrucksvoll.

an elegant, classic and attractive diagonal/vertical composition. I love the details and the lightly dramatic rendering of the pillars against the dark hills and the beautiful light and big clouds. Great b/w !

Hi Mesut.
I like the perspective and depth created by the columns and its gradually form.It seems impressive to me that those buildings keep standing up before so many time..I like the picture in B&W but I find some zones too much dark,anyway I like it.TFS.

merhaba mesut abi
mükemmel bir bakış açısı ve nefis bir kompozisyon.özellikle notunuzla birlikte çok anlam kazanmış.aslında ülkemizde daha gün ışığına çıkmamış çok tarihi yerler var.belki bir çok kimse bilmez bunları ama bu görüntüleri görüncede öğrenir.gerçekten belgesel niteliğinde bir tanıtım karesi olmuş elinize emeğinize sağlık.

Hello Mesut,

I also wanted to write a few more words about the vertical one which looks even better than than the last one, and where the column row creates such a wonderful complement with the cloud. We don't find these clouds all the time, especially on the excursion days. Sometimes they come out but we are not at teh right places.
