Jinju Castle Photo

Photographer’s Note

Surprisingly, there is not a single shot of this most famous, of Jinju's attractions on TE... until now. At right is the very rock where the Korean Heroine, seduced the Japanese invader general, in 1592, & lured him to his drowning death. She died too. I'll look up the story, & edit later. I liked the color contrast of the hazy blue, against the yellow Fall / Autumn colors, of the foliage.

Found it:

"City Mascot - Nongae. During the Imjinwaeran War of 1592, the female martyr 'Nongae' plunged to her death while clutching onto a Japanese General. Uiam Rock is an isolated rock, found near the river bank below Jinjuseong castle and is the place where Nongae launched herself into the river. Since ancient times, legend has it that war was to ensue if the rock and the river bank touched.

Jinjuseong Castle includes Chokseongnu Pavilion, named for its stately location on a rock cliff above the Namgang River. It is known for having one of the most stunning views in Korea. Founded during the rule of the 28th King of Goryeo 1n 1241, the pavilion has been renovated eight times." seong = castle.

Hi Chris,
what an amazing difference of light there with the result of that blue shade on the water. The light in the leaves and the shadow on the ground is what I like in that well added with some life.

nice and picturesque this place with the so old history.It's a difficult shot with the sun to be hidden from the tree and to floodlight with light, so nice,the yellow leafs.The existence of the people add a nice stroke in the scene.Informative your note too.

As you say, the contrasting colours are beautiful in this. The view is very good too, with the the bridge visible in the distance and the far side of the river too. I think that the people are essential to this shot, because if you take them out then this gets quite flat and uninteresting, but with them the photo has life. Nice work!

Excellent compositin and great use of the tree and the branches in framing, except its beauty, this way you also avoided a "dull" sky. Beautiful colours! Congratualations!

Wonderful composition. You couldn't have grouped these people better if you'd asked them. The fallen leaves and the Japanese maples, plus the haze and light give this one a great delicacy. Superb picture and good note.

Good timing, the fall or autumn (which one is used in Australia BTW?) are prettiest when backlit, and of course the bridge and the red & green thing provide a cultural complement.

Gorgeous view over the river with such a great, strong sunlight. The autumnal colours of the overhanging tree are beautiful and the branches also work as a great framing for the hazy view of the city in the background. Very good photo work, thanks for sharing!

A great backlight compo. especially with the autumn colours on the tree. Like how you composed this with the diagonal of the shoreline, the pavilion & the bridge in the BG. Surprised about no posts from this place, even from Rafal (jinju)?. A great note as well.
