Photographer’s Note

São João Del-Rei, also spelled São João del Rey or São João del Rei is a historical city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The population is around 85,000 inhabitants.

São João del-Rei was founded in the 18th century and has a great number of buildings from that era, including more than 70 churches.

Gold, animal husbandry and agriculture aided the development and progression of the former town, given city status on December 8, 1838.

São João del Rei was an important station on the Estrada de Ferro Oeste de Minas, a narrow gauge railway, and the location of a major roundhouse. The station and surrounding facilities have been turned into Brazil's largest railway museum, and a tourist railway operates from the station to Tiradentes town - in a steam engine locomotive (in the photography) - in a 20 minutes trip.

This is a well composed shot! The rails form a nice lead in for the shot. The positioning of the train is great with the building balancing it nicely. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

Marvellous shot, Paulo
The colour and composition are great, and you have exposed it so well and achieved excellent detail and sharpness. You chose an excellent viewpoint, placing the train and building at a good angle. And I like the way the pattern of the windows on the wall of the building is echoed in the windows of the carriage. I think it looks slightly underexposed, and I like that aspect of it, allowing the detail of the clouds to remain strong. Well done, and interesting note.

Very good capture of the old train, right when it's about to enter the station. The composition is really good, just as the POV. The light is enhancing too and I like to see the white clouds in the background through the black smoke of the train. Well captured!

imagem "fantasticasissima". Sao Joao Del Rey a Tiradentes em 20 minutos? Isso ai e trem bala? Voce andou neste negocio? Deve ser um barulho infernal e todo mundo sai dai com cara preta da fumaca.
A fotografia com a composicao, cores e manejo de profundidade muito boa. As nuvens ao fundo dao excelente contraste com a fumaca e vapor em volta da locomotiva.

No wonder this is a featured photo, you captured the detail of the train beautifully, you even got the steam blowing out from side.
The you framed it coming into a classical station under a dramatic sky full of thunderheads.
