| I took this photo at Yoshida-jinja in Kyoto, Japan. Every year at Spring Setsubun, the Japanese come to the shrine to dispose of the religious paraphrenalia they received over the previous year by burning them in a gigantic bonfire in the center of the temple. At the bottom left of the photograph you can see a "Daruma" doll that has, at least temporarily, escaped the raging fire. |
