Photographer’s Note

I took this picture on 26th March 2008 in Hinterglemm, in the Austrian state of Salzburg (Salzburger Land).

I was on the peak of the Zwölferkogel (1065m-1984m).
The snow conditions were perfect. It made the skiing so much fun.

In my WS I posted a similar shot.

Much better than the ws version, much more natural on the snow and the whole landscape. Very lovely compoosition with strong lines and the people in the distance are a perfect focalpoint. Again good work from your hand.

Hi Liliana,

What jumps to the eyes is the monochrome effect, the same blueish tint that is synonym with cold!

Amazing place that looks deserted, accessible only to few adventurers... A strong diagonal crossing the frame empower the composition. Good contrasts and exposure management.

The nuances caused by the transit, falling snow, among others, has caused a great impact figure in the composition of the scene.

There is great majesty of the mountains, a vast depth of field and a suitable treatment to white tones. Nice work, indeed.

What a picture!! i like the artistic touch in this one, I mean the blueish tones, is this real or did you increase saturation a bit?
The sharpness is perfect,
but the most attractive part here is the POV and the people in the right place, giving depth plus the clever diagonal, putting the 1st mountain in front, makes the environment look huge. (Also comparing it with the people looks huge).

I believe instantenously the skying in this weather and snow conditions must have been a real delight, but still you got the moment to have short stop and make a nice image of the moment with a well composed landscape. The diagonal of the foreground hill gives a strong line against the mountain in the background.

superb composition with the trail along the slope and the group standing there. A the texture of the snow is a dream. The soft blue cast is sometimes by the light, not unusual.

personal,imi place mai mult celalalt.mi-a zis mia un spiridus ca zapada e alba.la tine are tonuri albastrui.e adevarat ca daca ii dai context sf-ist poti alege si tonuri gri cu picatele.dar zapada e alba.si eu am una spre albastru...ciudat,le-a placut si-n afara de Dora nimeni nu mi-a zis ca e albastra.

Wow!! What a beauty , what a place and what a view!! Nice trekking experiences ! The place is so fascinating , so deserted with just snows all over... Even in the Himalayas, when we go trekking in the Himalayas , there is a bit of rocks and some settlements at 20,000 ft!

Bonjour Liliana,
tu me sembles bien sportive pour arriver à un tel endroit, au moins tu nous évite de devoir y aller pour profiter de la beauté du lieu, car ta photo est si naturelle qu'on se croirait un peu les pieds dans la neige et au froid.
Le froid d'ailleurs bien rendu par les couleurs dont le spectre est froid.
Les personnages donnent toutes les échelles nécessaires pour bien se rendre compte des tailles.

Splendid mountain scene. It really shows that it is not always necessary to have a blue sky. This grey, cloudy but bright sky is a absolutely perfect in combination with the white snow and the back-light. Very well seen and an excellent photo job!

The sky is not blue and does not give much contrast with the ground,and the only colors come from the three people, the photo is simple and yet so striking and so BEAUTIFUL. The details on the snow, the clarity and vividness of the white is wonderful. Superb sharpness. This is a superb photo.

You have an excellent portfolio here on TE, this one is exceptional, the detail is superb and the far mountain has some beautiful tonal blues and shadow detail. Great composition to get the skiers in, all in all a fantastic shot with colours, lighting and sharpness perfect. Top work

the diagonal that marks to the limit of the mountain and the traks of the skis gives much graphism to the image.
the background in more bluish tones gives depth him to the scene.
The detail of the skiers locates to us very either in the moment for a very well worked photo.

Great shot! Makes want to take the skis out. Excellently balanced composition. The persons at the back give an impression of the vastness of the area. I like it.
