Photographer’s Note

The monument to Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Dostoevsky was born in Moscow where he lived for 15 years until his parents sent him to St.Petersburg. Dostoevsky fell in love with St. Petersburg because this city looked so great and harmonious. Most of all the writer admired churches and cathedrals. The monument to Dostoevsky is next to the Vladimirsky Cathedral, one of the most beautiful cathedrals in St. Petersbug, and it looks like the writer is siiting and admire it.

A very original view on this moment. I really like the way you captured this scene. It was a good choice of making the surrounding more important than the monument itself.

А мне эта статуя страшно не нравится, право слово, могли бы Федор Михалыча как-нибудь получше изобразить. А тут - что в Москве, что у нас - черт знает что, а не монумент.
А фотка хорошая!

Hi Olga,
although there are to many power lines for my taste, the composition is very good. The first two layers (statue, house) give a good impression of depth and lead the eye to the church (3rd layer), which closes the space of the whole photo.

Hi Olga,
I like the view to the church in the background and the good clarity in the capture. Fine details in the architecture, a bit distracted by the power lines. I think (if possible) some steps back or less zoom would be a bit better as the framing looks a bit tight for me.
