Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken when I was in Rome in January 2006. The monument in the photo is the 'Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II', a monument that commemorates Vittorio Emanuele II, who was the first king of the unified Italy.

The monument was designed by Giuseppe Sacconi in 1895. It holds the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Hi Martijn,
Ah, dan hebben we allebei een nachtfoto vandaag van een monument met een Graf van de Onbekende Soldaat. Dit is een geslaagde nachtfoto met een mooie verlichting van dit enorme monument. En dat zonder schattig klein tripodje, neem ik aan. ;-)

Very nice Martijn. Great detail, sharpness and shades. The exposure is especially to my liking, with not too much "blow out" in the lit up sections yet alot of detail in the darker portions of the building.

I would have liked to see a dark blue twilight type sky in the background, evening out the exposure and adding a bit of "pop" and color but still, great photo as is.

Hallo Martijn,

Ik heb zeer veel bewondering voor uw nacht foto, met F/3.0 en 1/4 wat wel laag is, maar zonder monopod of ander statief is hij bijzonder geslaagd.
Goede composition, prachtig licht, net niet overbelicht, en een goede presentatie, goed fotowerk.
Bedankt voor uw bezoek.

Een mooie foto van deze vreselijke suikertaart. Ik hoop dat als dit ding instort of afbrandt (teveel steen ben ik bang) ze er iets mooiers neerzetten.

Très belle réalisation nocturne, le monument, le jardin en avant-plan, les statues, les bas-reliefs, tout ressort à merveille.
Aucun élément perturbateur. Une excellente image.
