[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Image from Beijing. The cool of winter mixed with the glare of sun adds for an interesting image of a rainless day. Photo taken at the Ghost Market in Beijing as Parents of these two are off finding treasures from China's past in this unique China dirt market. As the Olympics approach, places like this are being dismantled and replaced by modern quaintless structures – a loss for China travelers of tomorrow.

Hi David, and welcome to TE!
Thanks for sharing this cute photo of these two children , waiting patiently for their parents. The little girl is lovely under her pink umbrella! It doesn't look so hot as it needs an umbrella to protect them from the sun, but it's as feminine smartness goes!
I like the fact that there are two of them, hopefully brother and sister? When you hear so much of this spoilt generation of only children!
Your photo and the note are precious in a time when China is in the highlight, and much talked about in the west, generally not in very good terms!
It would be nice to get your experience from on the spot!
All the best!
Marie-Louise.

Hello David,

Welcome to TrekEarth, a exceedingly addictive site in cyberspace. I like this photograph, although a bit saddened by your note about the loss of the more quaint aspects of China. It's been twenty five years since i was there, and I understand from friends how vastly different it has become. This endearing photograph of the little children, the child with the umbrella reminded me very much of the Walking Umbrella, that I had submitted about 16 months ago.

Again, welcome to Trekearth. I look forward to seeing other good photographs from you. I am delighted to meet someone related to Lowell Thomas. Among other TE-members is a young descendent of James Watt, inventor of the steam engine.

Warm regards,

Bulent
Green Smiley tomorrow.

Hi David.

Welcome to TrekEarth! (Even although I am still quite new myself!)

I really like this picture. You have a good composition here with good mix of light and shadows. I like the way she is holding the umbrella as well!

Well captured!

Blair

Hi prof ...

Welcome to TE, too.
Nice angle with its object.
Would be better when sharp.
Pic itself is self-explanatory on how's life in CHina changing and moving fast for tomorrow.

Regards,

Sam
