Photographer’s Note
We stayed one night in the Lobo area in the north of the Serengeti National Park. Like its sister lodge in the Seronera area, Lobo Lodge is built into a kopje. On the left you can see one of the large kopje rocks. There are lovely views from such a high vantage point. The Lobo area has its own permanent water, making the dry season, between June and November the best time to visit. You can see how wonderfully green it is, although I expect it doesn't look like this in the dry season.
We arrived here in the afternoon and had some rare R&R and a swim before going out on a 4pm game drive.
In the WS there’s a shot of some distant impala taken from the very top of the kopje. You might also be interested in the road sign.

Hello Kath,
Un paysage à nouveau grandiose et captivant. J'aime bien ces lignes sur le sol qui formes de belles courbes dans l'image. La compo est bien pensée et permet à l'oeil de se balader dans l'image .

Hi Kath
Which wildlife group plays volleyball? Just joking. It does indeed look green. This a place I would like to get to in the not too distant future.

As I've never been there, I enjoy to discover a "normal" view from a lodge. I don't know why I would have imagined that in a forest... Interesting and useful to me... Thanks.

Hello Kath,
First i thought that the lodge was down there somewhere, but you are standing with the back to it and this is the view...right?
The big cactus on the left i would like to see more in the frame, but have to admit than you loose space on the right which is also very interesting to see with the view down in the valley. And because i like that view as most in this image you should keep it like it is ;-)
Regards, Henk

Hi Kath,
They made a very wise choice for placing the lodge, the view is gorgeous from this POV. I like the way you used the rocks and plants on the FG to make the compo. The colours, clarity and sharpness are equally great, making it very attractive.
The WS of the impalas is fabulous!
Regards, José.

Hi Kath. Looking at this there must be much worse places to stay on the Serengeti ;-). Great view and plenty of wildlife as per WSI. Well captured photo. Good colours and nice sky. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Kath,
I like the framing of the view and fine details in the landscape!
The cactus is an eye-catcher and a fine framing, and helps create this fine feeling of depth...
A well balanced composition with a fine sky!

Hello Kath
Le cactus du premier plan augmente bien la profondeur de l'image.
Difficile de se croire en afrique avec tout ce vert.

Kath,
youshows us the beauty of the place quite well although I'm not sure if I would have done some steps to the background and the the left to include more of the plant at the wery left. At the end you would have had a "boehringer-style" shot :-)

Hi Kath,
I do like the FG detail of the century plant and the rocky paths. I was just watching a BBS special on Planet Earth that features the amazing animal migration in Africa, was that part of the impetus for your magical trip. That is SOME sign and quite a nice impala shot that many would use as a PP.

Hi Kath
Fantastic depth & colours in the shot. The cactus in the left FG enhances the depth. Lovely clouds & sky. Like the clumps of trees in the plain well. Very interesting WSs especially the one with the impalas from the high POV. The other one with the skulls & the horns (surprising with their natural colour) is also interesting. Good work!

Hi Kath,
I find it very interesting that all of your safari shots so far have been taken with less than a 300mm setting, and most from a normal to short telephoto perspective. You really study and observe your envrionment very thoroughly. Many safari photographers mainly take only tightly cropped closeups of the wildlife. These shots have their place, but they tell me nothing about the surrouding culture and the terrain. This is an excellent and most useful photograph which helps me to understand the layout of the landscape. Thanks for sharing this excellent photo!
