Photographer’s Note

It was 10:45pm, in the stairs leading to the railway station "retiring rooms" where I was going to spend the night (I was in transit too) - the train station never sleeps entirely, the whistles of the trains, people calling suddenly, regular announcements by loudspeakers about trains arriving in this large, busy place...

The roaring of the antique aircon in my room cancelled all those other noises and with my earplugs on, I slept soundly that night, like those exhausted passengers, waiting for a train that would pass maybe in the middle of the night or early morning ?

Wow, what a great capture!!
Very well thought POV and composition.
I like also the slow shutter speed giving movement to the man claimbing the stairs.
Nice sharpness too

A good downward pov on the stairwell. I like the motion blur of the person hurrying up the stairs at left. Excellent colour & sharpness. Bon weekend!

J'aime bien la scène et le POV mais les teintes me semblent un peu ternes...
J'aurais peut-être tenté un noir et blanc contrasté ?

A great PoV allows us to get an atmosphere of that place.The blur in the ends also adds a lot to this shot. You have manged to get a good clear even in low light . Great shot TFS

encore une fois tu as habillement marie la note et l'image. Dans ce cas, la photo gagnerait la medaille meme sans note, elle est assez amusante. En plus je garde pour moi les escaliers originales, que tu as su bien capter. Tes images de l'Inde m'inspirent d'y aller moi meme, au risque de ne pas dormir trois semaines. Une image tres interessante. L’escalier en spirale est la partie dynamique de cette photo et sert de cadrage en meme temp. C’est comme une longue-vue monoculaire qui met au point la vision dans l’arriere-plan et montre le moment immobile... Le contrast entre l’activite dans l’edifice et la tranquilite des hommes qui se reposent dans un profond sommeil est tres bien vue et capture. J’aime beaucoup.

Hi dear Cath,
Here again you have used a masterly pov. This pov creates a wonderfull gaphical effect but on the other hand it creates a nice frame for the sleepers at bottom. Very nice soft colors and goo light control.

Il est tout simplement excellent ce pov. D'un point de vue technique, il donne du style et du vertige... Et puis avoir mis les mains qui montent ou descendent la rampe, c'est top car cela montre comment cela se passe dans les gares... On se croise, on chemine sans ne plus voir ce qui se passe autour... Très juste donc...

Olá Cath, I remember you asking for advice in composing pictures and I have to say that I'm really enjoying the originality of your compositions, specially in the last three posts. I tried making some photos in the trains of India, but I wasn't so successful as you ;-) The geometry of this one is delicious. Of course that the men sleeping downstairs is crucial, but the way we get tere, envolved in this spiral, it's really great.

Bonsoir Catherine,
Excellent cliché pour illustrer 'la vie de tous les jours quand on voyage'.
L'endroit n'a pas l'air particulièrement confortable, mais cela n'a pas l'air d'empêcher ces deux-là de se reposer comme s'ils étaient indifférent aux mouvements qui les entourent.
J'aime la façon dont ils sont nets, tandis que tu as du flou de bouger sur les gens qui empruntent les escaliers.

The theme ..
India seems to be a land of sleeping people...I would say that about 10-15% of photos from India are with the contents of sleeping people (???)
this is dofferent... Quite unique.

I'll go on... It's not the end of my journey

j'ai été touché par cette photo quand tu l'as posté. C'est une des bonnes photos que j'aie vu ici depuis que je suis membre.
Tellement de détails autour du sujet principal, tellement touchant et intéressant! J'ai apprécier faire le workshop parce que ça m'a permis de réaliser à quel point votre composition est soignée. Mes suggestions concernant la composition (quoiqu'inutile car la photo tient bien sans mon aide!!!):se déplacer d'un pied à gauche pour prendre la fin de la rampe d'escalier en bas et peut-être l'autre personnage OU se déplacer vers la droite pour omettre ce personnage...

Je n'ai pas pu m'empêcher de lire votre discussion avec Nina et j'ai donc essayé de faire un petit workshop. J'ai appuyé à fond sur les contrastes. Je préfère toujours la version couleur, mais je pense que le noir et blanc a aussi son charme.
