Photographer’s Note

Found myself with the day off so I headed up to a spot I'd been wanting to shoot for a while now. I was hoping the fog would not blanket the area as it normally does and that I would get some nice clouds with sunrise colors. It was not to be, but the fog did play a nice part, adding a little mood to the the oaks that sprinkled the view in front of me. I didn't have a tripod with me so I hoped and prayed the VR feature on my Nikkor lens would save my bacon. Considering everything, it did okay.

One question I have is the sharpness of the trees. Due to the fog, I chose to only sharpen the green and yellow channels. I chose to leave the trees slightly softer with no sharpening. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

I like this. It has a great mix of hope(flowers) and despair (leafless tree/fog). Well composed to as the eye runs through the image from foreground to background.

Hello Mike,
The foggy situation,the yellow fielkd and the trees in this nice composition pull me to open the shot and enjoy it.
very well captured and composed in vertcal format.I love this kind of weather !

Hi Mike, this is very nice, the composition works well with the long green and yellow foreground working its way to the fog enshrouded tree, in this portrait format. Your process in just sharpening the green and yellow seems most appropriate to me. I think in this shot you had to keep that tree soft. It works well.
