Photographer’s Note
As we were cycling from Culrain to Lochinver (via Ledmore Junction) we decided to take a side road instead of the main road (which is much more used by cars). At Oykel Bridge this road then meets up again with the main road.
It leads you through nice hills with heather (at that time in full bloom), through forrests and finally the view opens up and you can see the valley in its whole splendour.
When I came across this abandoned house I couldn't resist and had to take some picture.

Hi Laura, welcome to TE. You picked a great shot to "open your account"! The composition is classic - the cottage and tree are placed perfectly, and the view between them of the hills beyond is excellent. TFS.

Welcome to TE Laura,
Hoping to see more of the landscapes around your countryside. They must be just as stunning or mysterious by the looks of it. Good composition and the colors are good and stunning.
Welcome again Laura

Hallo Laura!
What a beautiful begin here! I like this picture very much, especially because of its great depth and the natural colours. You have had the luck of a wonderful clear air.
Greetings from Germany!

Hej Laura.
First of all warmly welcome to the addicted world of TE
Im pleased to see an other abandoned house lover. The thing with those houses is, they don't need much of interior and facial renovation to get more cosy then any new build ones could get for 100 times more.
For the image. I like those colors in the beginning of fall, the small red apple and a house of stone (rather uncommon in Northern Scandinavia) and of cause the corrugated rusty roof.
Cheers

Welcome to Trekearth! And what a picture with which to start! Wonderful colours, perfect exposure, sharp as a pin and a fabulous sky.
What more could you ask for? Oh, yes, very pleasing composition too!

Hello Laura and welcome to TE!!!
A very classic but effective compo, with the tree and the cottage well placed in the compo. You've left the eye free to discover the horizon passing through them until it reach the hills and the river in the bg..well done!
Thanks for sharing it.

Igor

Hi Laura, this is an excellent composition with all the elements nicely positioned for a balanced photo. I particularly like the desolate and windswept feel of this image. I wouldn't mind buying and restoring this lovely old place. Good work! Regards,
Ryno
