Photographer's Note
Today marks the 60th Anniversary of the liberation of Paris towards the end of the Second World War. To mark the event there has been a number of events over the past week marking various acts and deeds of the people who were involved in the popular uprising marking the liberation.
On the 25th August two parades took place, one represting the French and the other the American liberating forces. The picture here is at the start of the french parade - I guess she was pleased to see him.
The parade took the form of motorised vehicles and dancers/singers and other show persons stopping in several places along the route to give a little display.
About 1,600 people died during the liberation of Paris, it is for them that the celebrations make rememberance.

So loooong Marianne... Something as rare as a funny 'historic' shot! I like the energy of the pic and the crammed frame. Perhaps some of the top and the face on the left could be cropped? This might work well in a grainy BW version to emphasize the historic feel, but it works as it stands!

A wonderful capture of history recreated and sacrifices remembered!
I might have tried a shallower DOF to lessen the impact of the background - the Lens Blur in PS CS could also do this.

High quality foto in sharpness and composition, pleasant presentation of the subject. To satisfie Mikkel suggestion, may I propose a WS ? I hope I didn't ruin the photo ....

Brilliantly captured moment of human joy and celebration. You can see in the actions of one, and the faces of others, all that the day stands for. Thanks for your post and your note. I like the colors, and would only have cropped the bland sky a little (and thrown off the composition). :o)
