Photographer’s Note

Today marks the 60th Anniversary of the liberation of Paris towards the end of the Second World War. To mark the event there has been a number of events over the past week marking various acts and deeds of the people who were involved in the popular uprising marking the liberation.

On the 25th August two parades took place, one represting the French and the other the American liberating forces. The picture here is at the start of the french parade - I guess she was pleased to see him.

The parade took the form of motorised vehicles and dancers/singers and other show persons stopping in several places along the route to give a little display.

About 1,600 people died during the liberation of Paris, it is for them that the celebrations make rememberance.
