[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
At dawn on the Ganges a Sadhu (holy man) applies pigment to his face.
By choosing to become a Sadhu an individual automatically with draws from the prevailing social system. He chooses the more direct but also more delicate, path to liberation from the continual cycle of birth-death-rebirth. To do this the sadhu renounces any familial or material bonds and joins one of the numerous brotherhoods under a guru. Sadhus do not cut their hair.

PS: I also hope that sadhu was a real one. I have just been in Udaipur and there are plenty of fakes!

His actions are also captured well.

hello Wanda,
steps are great places for taking good shots of people as they act as a great background. Your picture is pin sharp with vivid colour. You have captured an interesting moment in time too as he applies the pigment.
regards
Bev

Hi Wanda
Very nice portrait of the holy man. I like a lot the colours and the details of his dressing. The white balance is perfect but some noise is noticeable. Very good work. TFS

Hi miss van den Haagen Dazs,

If you would sell ice cream, this flavor would be safran and paprika. Stange taste for icy treats, but we never know, it might be the next trendy thing... Yes, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced it could work, in upscale restaurants.

This is a strong composition, with a combination of a good portrait in its environmental context. It's an image full of rich qualities, for its meaningful evidence of a social and religious behavior, cultural insights and intimate ritual. The grainy texture suits well the subject. It goes without saying that the spicy colours stand out from the grey graphic background.

Good composition Wanda. You were under good inspirational vibes.

Ciao!

André

Nice shot! You caught the sadhu in an interesting posture. Good colours.

Hi Wanda,
superb placed and captured colour spot in the grey stairs with the Sadhu. Wonderful texture on him and his clothes.

Hi Wanda,
The Sadhu is captured perfectly - great strong reds and a nice pose he's giving you. I wouldnt mind seeing some color in the stairs perhaps to keep the photo completly organic looking? Just an idea... but great shot.

Cheers
Dave.

Hi Wanda,
Beautiful portrait of the holy man. The colour contrast between grounds and Sadhu is very good. Well done...

Hello Wanda,
A well composed image with striking simplicity!
The stairs makes a great set of diagonals, and the colourful man is a sure eye-catcher...
Amazing to see how he looks at himself in this splitereed piece of a mirror!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Belle photo de cet homme en habit, avec toutes ses parures et maquillage.
Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté, bons détails, jolie barbe poivre et sel comme on dit chez nous.
Vous avez pris un sage en photo.

Amitiés Thomas
