[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a picture taken of Nymølle (New Mill), located in the Mølleådalen (Mill Creek Valley) near the town of Virum. This shows one of my favorite aspects of Denmark and that is that one can find century old mills just lying about in perfect condition. Now the whole valley seems to be a place for taking walks, instead of the industrial corridor that it once was. I think I like the change.

Technically speaking, if anyone could tell me how to make the sky bluer, I'd appreciate it. I'm sure it has to do with my use of my camera and I tried a few different settings but I couldn't get the closeup to come out with the real color of the sky.

Hi Kate.
This is a typical shot in the danish winter. I like the composition, and it's good to see you here on TE.
It is difficult to get a "clear blue sky" if the light is not here for you.
The reason you get a flat sky in your picture is the amount of midtones and shadows in the front, which encounters about two thirds of your picture.
You cannot make a correct exposure for such a difference in light with a standard digital camera.
One solution is to make two or three exposures and combine them in eg. Photoshop, or if you want to get the exposure right at the time of shooting, you could try a ND graduated filter.
Take a look at my WS, please...
Kind regards, Jan

Hi Kate,
very nice winter rural scene, I like the framing by branches in the foreground and soft colours.
Best regards from Czech Republic

You asked about the surroundings of the place, where this pretty girl i snapped praying, is in fact a saint's mausoleum in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan in South Asia.
