Ribeira da Pena Photo

Photographer’s Note

The title comes from the name of the litle river where this photo was taken.
The place is in "Serra da Lousã" (Lousã Mountain), in a litle village called "Aldeia da Pena", near Góis.
This village is included in a program called "Aldeias de Xisto" (Shale Villages), that pretend to recover lost villages in the forest, rebuilding their houses with the tradicional material, in this case a rock called "xisto" (shale).

Mas que linda foto. Simplesmente maravilhosa. Os 2 segundos de velocidade criaram um sentido de movimento excelente sem queimar os brancos. Gosto muito.
Nestas "Aldeias de Xisto". só conheço o Piódão que até nem é na Serra da Lousã. Quantas mais destas aldeias é que existem na região?

I like the photo, particularly the splash of green at the lower left. The photo would be more impressive with the lettering at the lower right.

This is a lovely image, with a very slow shutter speed, you have presented the flowing water like a vapor. The symmetry is rather compelling, the colors and resolution are vivid and sharp. Thank you for the useful note,

Hi Artur, all of the light seems to come from the flowing water, yet you have full visible detail in all of your shadow areas. You have managed the light quite well here. Your timing of 2 seconds gave a very smooth appearance to the flow over the rocks, and even here in the highlights your light was well managed. Using the f22 aperture gave you excellent depth of field right from that first rock to the bridge. The composition is good but I do find myself wondering what it would look like from a bit higher elevation to show off the still water between this falls and the bridge. Not a big deal, I'll get over it. Very nicely done.
