Photographer’s Note
“Because the world has eaten countless hamburgers, the origins of the name may be of interest to many. By the middle of the 19th century people in the port city of Hamburg, Germany, enjoyed a form of pounded beef called Hamburg steak. The large numbers of Germans who migrated to North America during this time probably brought the dish and its name along with them. The entrée may have appeared on an American menu as early as 1836, although the first recorded use of Hamburg steak is not found until 1884. The variant form hamburger steak, using the German adjective Hamburger meaning “from Hamburg,” first appears in a Walla Walla (Washington) newspaper in 1889. By 1902 we find the first description of a Hamburg steak close to our conception of the hamburger, namely a recipe calling for ground beef mixed with onion and pepper. By then the hamburger was on its way, to be followed—much later—by the shortened form burger, used in forming cheeseburger and the names of other variations on the basic burger, as well as on its own.”

Andreas,
I normally don't care for HDR, but this is very good! The lighting and colors are great with many fine details and great DOF. The blending of natural and artificial lighting is very good creating a great shot.

Hi Andrea
What an amazing image. Expellant colors and details. I wondered about HDR technique, is it made from separate photos or one raw converting to four. I ask it because i don't see any movement or ghost effect.

Hello Andreas,
The amber grow is really beautiful. Lights of the building match with sky in the evening nicely.
Your photo was really taken at the right time. This HDR work creates with Photomatix?
Have a nice day, Hisashi

The note you wrote to Korkut should have been added here, I think. I like to hear people's personal experiences about a place - much more informative and interesting than Wikipedia entries. Anyway, your shot is good as usual and it makes me want to try HDR asap. The result is really different. By the way, I like your compo: The tower in the middle looks much too "emancipated" - it dominates the whole frame. :PPP

Very good use of HDR Andreas as it doesn't have that obvious HDR false look. It also pays to get up those bell towers so as to get a different perspective. Interseting notes as well.

Andreas,
"I want to become a hamburger!" Das ist natuerlich der absolute Hammer. "Become" bedeutet naemlich nicht bekommen sonder WERDEN. ;-)

Hello Abdreas,
because I am leaving for Hamburg this week, your picture is double as interesting for me. There's a long story about hamburgers but none about your vantage point ? Where would this be, a modern tower perhaps. I appreciate the low light and the tunsgtens which have started to be seen here and there, but we can still see all detail of the city. Sharpness is No 1 also.
Excellent, we'll see if I get something similar. - Izzet
