There was quite a bit of damage by the film lab, to this particular image, & I've attempted to repair / remove some large scratches, stains & discolouration. Much better than it was, although still not perfect.
This strange Roman Greco amphitheatre is opposite the Yahoo Baseball Dome in Fukuoka, over on the right across the street.
I've added a workshop, showing the damaged version.

Nice photo. It is strange to see such a design in Japan. I realy like the detail of your photo and also the colours are very nice.

very interesting place indeed. This combination of classic structures versus modern glass building. I like chosen POV a lot, it gives great comparison between them, dynamic touch and great sense of dimensions (specially due to the bench). Colours are very intense and vivid, clearly a great sunny day is felt and I do not see any damage done so I guess you did a great job repairing this image. :)

Hi Chris, a funny architectural mix in this image colorful and full of light.
good POV too.
siolaw (38292) 2008-02-08 1:03
I have to say i dont see any of the damage you are talking about... It looks quite clear to me! I like the combination of shapes and colors! The curve of the arches is well supported by the floor's pavement... Sharp details and good framing.

Très belle photo. Un mélange d'architecture très agréable, des courbes et des droites.
Magnifique ciel et superbes couleurs.

Hi, my friend!
It is very interesting modern architecture. Good composition and good colours. I like your idea. Beautiful hight houses.

The restauration of the original sure come out in the best way chris, and for sure a compo well worth to present. The mix of old and new architechture is well considered in the compo and the low pov sure adds some graphic details of interest to the final result.

nice shot with great perspective and POV.Really is interesting to see in Japan this strange Roman Greco amphitheater to coexist with this new building.Nice colours and light.Informative your note.
Have a nice weekend,Danos

Olá Chris, impressive work made from the damaged version. Wonderful dynamic perspective from the past leading us to the future. The skyscrapper seems like a mirage made of glass, making an interesting soft contrast with the sky. The pattern on the ground enhances nicely the visual effect but the column on the left is a bit distractive.
barrufeto_77 (28886) 2008-02-08 2:35
I like the contrast of the building in the background with the arches...it's great!
nz-photo (132) 2008-02-08 2:37
Well done restauration and excellent contrast between opposite styles of architecture.
pablominto (53746) 2008-02-08 2:52
Amazing lines and appealing contrast in the architecture!
I like the dynamics of the composition, the colours are attractive with sharp fine details...
Good point of view makes the most out of the scenery!
John_F_Kennedy (43625) 2008-02-08 4:00
Amazing futuristic architecture against the old arcade in the foreground! The most attractive is the colour. Well done
snunney (94777) 2008-02-08 4:29
A nice mix of architecture, which, nevertheless, seems to work well together. Everything stands out well under the saturated blue sky; lots of pleasing geometric lines. Perfect clarity. Very good pp work to recover a fine image.
pasternak (15183) 2008-02-08 4:52
Nice one, Chris, I admire the play of the different curves here, really a well-done architectural shot...

Hi Chris! I believe that you have success. Your picture constitutes his important and intelligent recording combination of two buildings. Amazing idea and implementation that I like a lot! you I praise
Cormac (26563) 2008-02-08 8:12
Wow, great positioning in this shot! The curving line of the arches and the walkway is in just the right place to be able to complement the straight vertical lines of the tower. Great job with the repair too, as this looks really good. Well done!
RGatward (20066) 2008-02-08 8:19
Hi Chris, nicely seen stylistic clash here. Wow a real die hard you are, I guess that ME will go on forever!
UnTrained (0) 2008-02-08 8:49
good sign of early intercultural exchange I think ;-) I like this view with the curve of the arches and the skyscraper behind. Good and strong colours and I am astonished about the good clarity you achieved after that haze from the lab. Not to forget the rest. Superb PP.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

If you had not mentioned the damage incurred at the film lab, I would not have know. You've done a very good job of post-processing. The the composition is particularly good, with the curved walkway and colonnades lead the eye naturally to the impressive architectural edifice.

a very nice image here here Chris,

Fantastic architecture photo, with an impressive contrast with the ancient-like columns and the modern skyscraper! Excellent vertical framing and composition, beautiful colours! Congratulations!
gneufeld (15890) 2008-02-08 12:08
A very well composed image with the rising curve a perfect lead in to the large tower in the distance. Good colors and if you hadn't talked of film damage, I certainly would not know it? Nice colors and lots of details. TFS. Gerald

A great image with the Roman Arches and the massive high rise that towers over the appearance of the old architectural design. you did a great job stabilizing the slide's scratcges and the overexposed slide. An excellent shot...
azaf1 (15929) 2008-02-09 1:00
This is stunning! A huge one and a terrific curve that makes such a nice composition
I think it's well worth congratulations
marietom (34609) 2008-02-09 1:32
Jolie composition, toute en lignes et en courbes. Belles couleurs aussi, mais ça, c'est habituel.

I apologize for not being able to follow your latest photos as regularly as I would like to. I like this photo, there are so many eye catching features and seemingly clashing ages of architecture. The modern glass tower look peculiar to be in the same frame as this roman-style arches and columns. I like the sweeping bend in the pathway and placement of the chair inviting the viewer for a sit. The polarization is a dominant feature, defining the photo and giving strong impact. Great work.
danyy (0) 2008-02-10 14:43
une photo qui montre d'abord que le Japon est un pays propre et net.
Comme ta photo qui est sans bavures, très soignée, autant dans son cadrage que dans ses lumières.
J'aurais décalé un peu pour ne pas avoir la colonne devant le building.
Graal (101694) 2008-02-10 23:05
amazing place, interesting view, fine vertical format. I like the colours and composition also. Good work.
guillaumejm (0) 2008-02-12 12:30
A nice picture, well repaired then. interesting contrast about architecture. I particularly appreciate the shadows on tyhe ground and this chair, alone.
Tue (32486) 2008-02-12 15:16
Good picture with a good compostion and taken from a great POV. I like the combination of the Roman architecture and the modern office building in the background. The light and colours are attractive too. Thanks for sharing!
livinitout (942) 2008-02-12 22:29
Nice. I've got a shot of the same location but from a different angle. Didn't actually go inside the structure to look from another perspective. Thanx for reminding me to always look at things from different angles.
This one well captured.
pastadog (13111) 2008-02-13 11:35
Outstading angle, Chris, obtaining that three dimensional impact, I esp. like the large curve line coming down from the upper right corner... superb colors too, and excellent PP... regards, Daniel
devimeuxbe (58557) 2008-02-15 15:22
this is a beautfull prspective on the modern world. beautifull vertical cropping.
Angshu (56748) 2008-02-16 0:13
Admirable work with the PP to retrieve the details. The contrast of architecture is very well defined from your POV. The strong curve & the repeating arches make this shot. Not sure about the column in the centre...was there any way you could have avoided it? An excellent shot nonetheless! I admire how you're still continuing with scanned prints. The quality is most of your shots are excellent.
