[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Symphony in the City is an annual event in Perth to celebrate summer holidays. The key players are Western Australia Symphony Orchestra (WASO). They play some of the famous classical tunes to thousands of audiences sitting on the grass or on their low-chairs (since people are not supposed to block other people's view in their back).

This picture was taken from last year event. It was in the afternoon and the show was postponed for at least an hour to wait until the sunlight faded away (thanks to daylight saving).

The most important thing was: it's free! Another $50-$100 saving for a poor student like me. Thank goodness...I mean, thanks WASO.

You managed a very good composition on this picture as well as good light and colours. Well done.
I have been many times to Indonesia (Jakarta, Surabaya and Madura Island) and I have a few pictures of your country in my gallery. Please have a look if you have time.
Antonio

Toby,
I like how you composed this one, with great colors and pleasant graphics.
Nice job,
Regards,
JB.

The time of day provided for a nice even exposure throughout the photo. The way you composed this shot was really good with the building back behind and the stage on the right and the 'Symphony in the City' sign on the left. Very cool.
Regards,
Ryan

First of all, I think you need no frame on the picture, because it reduces the detail we can see in a maximum of 800 x 800 pixelson TE, and the frame needs also some space.
Your picture is a good one. First of all the blue in the sky is a classical one, but perhaps it could be a little bit darker if you take the photo some minutes later in the day in the next concert. The position of the auditorium to the right, instead of dead centre, balances very good the picture with the building to the left and the add to the extreme left.
Regards,
Jürgen

Hi Toby,
Good capture of this show outdoors, I like this illumination of this stage. I believe that the audience was big for being a free show. I like this framing, it light and colors. Tfs

Hi Toby,
Great urban shot full of color and excellent details. Well seen!
Mike

Hi Toby, composition is great in this shot with good contrasts in colour seen between the bandshell and the sky. Postitioning of the sight for the Symphony up front, (but not in the way of the players) is very effective as well. When you have tall buildings you are going to get perspective issues with them leaning in at the top, it's not the fault of the photographer or lens (unless you're toting a very expensive architectural lens that is supposed to control this). There are a couple of ways to compensate for it with PP. In photoshop you can play with the lens distortion filter, or an easier way is to crop "with perspective". I've prepared a workshop where I've done this to leave you with another option.

Thanks, John
