Photographer’s Note
The cold air of winter had come to Lake Erie a big Lake that doesn't always freeze over completly in the winter. ( 257 miles long and 57 miles across) a few weeeks ago though most of it was ice covered to some degree. Then a storm started brewing on the lakes. It started with a warm from that came up and across the United States. The warm air mixing with the cold air coming off the ice on the lakes, caused turmoil. Winds were blowing at 50knots for 36 hours making waves up to 18 feet ( go stand outside and look at the roof of your two story house, the waves were over that high). With every crashing wave on the edge of the ice, it was pushed closer and closer to shore until the huge blocks of ice started pushing their way up the banks, in many places along the lake they were pulverized into huge piles of ice, but here the water is shallow so the ice just moved in closer and closer, reminded me of a glacier.
Just another day witnessing the forces of nature.
Thanks for viewing my gallery and your comments on my photos.

Hi Donna,
You've captured the atmosphere really well here ... the dark clouds and the ice says it all .... miserably cold but a beautiful sight. I like the way you incorporated the curve shoreline ... very appealing visually. The color contrast between the land and ice is also very good. Well captured and composed with good image quality. Excellent work! tfs

Hello Donna,
It is infernal this Lake Erié, it is worse than the Mediterranean. Your photograph is very well built. It describes the violence of the natural elements well. The light is welcome like this small piece of blue sky. Congratulations.
Have a nice day

Hey Donna!
Well done, A nice wintry motive, great composition, good way of presenting the sun rays trying to unsuccessfully penetrate the layer of clouds, its just a little bit on the dark side (colors) for me.
See you around. :)

Well done Donna having captured the ray of light coming out of the cloud & the ice on the base; seems to be a colorless color photography :)

Hi Donna,
Wonderfully dramatic scene with the giants blocks of ice piling on the rocky beach. The little bit of blue sky adds hope to this somber image. Great details and sharpness to this winter photo.

Hi Donna, what power of nature. It must have been a sight to see the wind and waves breaking up the ice like that. Your picture looks quite eerie - no pun intended! (Is that where the name for the lake comes from?) The colour and texture of the ice is impressive and I like how the road seems to be a walkway to the light. Casper

Hi Donna,
Wonderful composition, and perfect balance of dark and clear areas. The small building reminds us that we are on earth despite the great opposing forces of the ice and the sky.

Hello Donna,
The forces of nature are well depicted!
The huge pieces of ice are thrown around like they were made of cotton, and the drama is enhanced by the play of light in the clouds...
This is a fine composition, where the different elements are well distributed within the frame!

Hi Donna. I’m having trouble imagining that much fresh water let alone covered in ice. Here we are lucky if the rain puddles get covered in ice in the middle of winter! Excellent photo. The sun streaks add another dimension also. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.
