Photographer’s Note
Ruined monastery on the edge of the cliffs (balze) at Volterra. The monastery was abandoned when the crumbling cliffs caused part of it to collapse. It looks as if it could fall into the valley below any day now. This place is sometimes called the "Balze cliffs" however "Balze" means "Cliff" in Italian so I think you should just use one of those words at a time. Anyway, great place to visit around "The Golden Hour".

Hi Philip,
This a beautiful scene and you've composed it well. The view from this location is amazing! I like the colours and the rolling hills in the background.
I've done a little workshop to try and bring out the richness of colours.

molto buona questa composizione sulle Balze, ottimi i colori, belle le luci soffuse.

Nice light, Phil. I like how it gently brushes the trees at the bottom, bringing out the richness of the late-fall colors. It's unfortunate that the bare cliff is so bright, which distracts attention from the monastery--perhaps you could have toned it down a little, or maybe cropped some. It works well overall, though. Regards, Ken.
