Photographer’s Note
I was visiting New York for the New Year celebration. It was my first visit to a large city and I was fascinated large alleys that were obscured by the snow. This was taken on a low-res camera (1MP). I only used auto-levels in Photoshop for enhancement.

Very nice shot! The low-res of your camera gives to the photo an atmo very fantastic! I like it!

Beautiful! It looks like a Hopper painting. The snow worms really look menacing... and delightful!

Terrific composition. It looks like a fiercer storm than even the walkers seem to think. Nice contrast, great light.

This is good, Jeremy!
One more proof that one doesn't have to have an expensive camera to make marvelous shots; it's up to creator, not a tool!
Wonderful perspective, lovely colours and grain. I truly love this piece of everyday life caught during your visit to the Big Apple.

this is a lovely image, Jeremy!
the buildings disappearing in the fog/snow in the background are excellent as a composition.
i would tend not to center the 'tunnel' that much...
i´ve made a ws. will post tomorrow.

Très belle composition, j'aime l'effet de la neige, le mouvement des gens. Bravo !!

What a beautiful picture Jeremy. It gives me a warm feeling even if it's in the middle of a snowfall. The 2 pedestrian added a humane element to it. I also love the grainy effect that makes it like a nice pastel painting. :)

Very beautiful shot, great vertical composition, very nice details, great effect, but I do prefer summer and I'm not anxious to get in this situation :-), well done.

Very nice Jeremy with snow being driven across the field of view. The blue jacket and red details along the street really add to this composition as does the shadowy vista along this street. Fine work, especially, as you note, with a low-res camera. I guess with all the blur in this image, low-res is not a great disadvantage. I'll look forward to seeing more of your work.

This is a great result of shooting in bad weather . Empty street except those two walkers, traffic lights, silhouettes of the buildings, snow, low-res camera and you – they all together create an excellent image with interesting atmosphere.

Beautiful photograph with a moody atmopshere, but mainly with very nice tones and colours. Well done.

Great composition and mood. You have caught the atmosphere well Jeremy inspite of the low res camera. I have done a WS to see if a BW works here. Lemme know if it does :)

Wow! Thanks to the heavy snow the end of the alley sinks in the dark, and the skyscrapers ...

Great shot.. you really captured well the mood of a snow storm in a large city, when the streets are almost still with no traffic (or cars stuck in the snow in some cases). The two people crossing the street in no hurry it seems are really great as well as the lamp post covered with snow, both placed in the right third of the image. We can see the depth of the street as well as the height of the buildings which makes a great image.

Very nice photograph you took here in this blister!
The monochrome top is perfect and gives you hints of massive structures and the "big apple"!
The lower part is with more colors and the persons really brings depth with the contrast in size between them and the buildings!
Only I could mention is that I think you should have taken the pic slightly later or a little before. Then the persons would be even more visible from the background...

Shows that equipment isn't everything.
