[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ice Age in Calgary: -38 degrees Celsius (-48 with wind chill)!
Today the C-Train was not working in the Downtown core,in the morning. At work the heating stopped working so I had to go home.
Bow River was "boiling" when I took the shoot and my fingers froze. I put my gloves back on and my hand in the pocket and I still could feel the fingers burning.
I think I`m gone move to Cuba:)

Hey Nelu,

Well done for bracing the cold! I know you were freezing half to death so in all regards, well done. Maybe would have been nice hadn't it been so cold to up the aperture and make it a tad darker with more depth. Is it so cold that you can throw a pot of boiling water in the air and see most of it turn into a cloud?

All the best,

-Adam

Hi Nelu,

I can not imagine with my self to stay there more then few minutes, because I already forgot snow and lower any temperature then +20 degrees Celsius. Your capture is incredible! Waves shows river have full power there. This one is also a very risky shoot too. Congratulations.

Friendly Regards,

Ertugrul

Oh, my...
We are much further north, and here its around 0 Celsius most of the winter due to the warm sea. You deserve a lot of points just for taking the gloves off. :)
Its a bit overexposed but thats easy to foregive under such circumstances. The boiling part is interesting and tells us everything about the temperature.

Best regards,
Jon.

Perhaps this is why I haven't followed my many friends from Toronto who have moved to Calgary to work Nelu!

I love the mist coming up off the rough river. As well as the bridge in the background. Nice work shooting photos despite the cold weather.

Regards,
David

Hi Nelu,
Where you been, buddy? Thanks for sharing this image. We have kids living in Calgary and they too have been lamenting the very cold conditions. Good shot - the icy mist and fog over the river is really quite striking. Well seen and do take care - wear everything you own! Gerald

Hi Nelu,
Very interesting composition and the chill is well felt from ur photo.Exposure is OK But the depth is not good.

Ambar

hej Nelu,
But the camera was working well, isn't it risky to get your camera icy standing so close to the steaming frost.
anyway you seems to have a quite hard winter in Canada (saw som crosscountry compitition on TV)
Norhten Europe been milder than ever.
Anders

Brrhhhhh Nelu!

I've been watching Calgary's temps - we've got family there! I stood at this same point back in Sept '07 - a beautiful warm autumn day: great to see this shot in the frigid depths of winter by way of comparison! Forget Cuba - Perth Australia has basked in the mid 30's for the past 10 days straight!

Best wishes,
Jeff
