Photographer’s Note
While exploring Inverness, which itself is really beautiful, I couldn't resist trying to take a picture of the beautiful long shadows of the people passing by. We were there at the right time, while the sun was going down.

Hi Anouk,
this capture is really very ambitious and very very difficult. It is hard to balance front powerful light and darker surrounding. It is however very good attemp with nice long shadows and lovely silhuette work. Very special, warm and charming mood. Please do not resent this warnign but without proper filter protection shooting directly into the sun can damage your lenses. I'm not familiar with your camera and maybe you already know that, but anyway, just in case. Hope you don't mind. So anyway, wellcome to TE! :)
Kindess regards,
Jeri

Hola,
I like this picture for this sun light that makes this greats shadows on the street. Well seen. It's not easy to take a picture with this intense light, good work!
I have made a little Workshop about your picture. Is just another point of view of your picture, I hope you like, and don't hesitate to critic and give another point of view of my pictures. Is the better way to improve our photographie,
Best regards,
and welcom to Treakearth!

Anouk hi!
First welcome to TE. Both of you photos are difficuly tasks even for the very experienced photographers as they are against the sun. Had you waited a bit longer or moved to the left you would have captured those beautiful elongated shadows and the great perspective would have come out a lot better. Since it is your first attempt I think you deserve praise.
Best wishes

He Anouk!
Groetjes Florian

Hello Anouk,
This is a truly compelling with a interesting mystique. The very low angle of the sun has created long shadows, and delineated the crevices in the cobble stone. Well done,

Hi Anouk,
Absolutely great photo! Some people say 'You musn't shoot to the direction of the sun!' They can't know much about photograpy!
That's true that you loose most of the colours and details then, but you get fantastic silhouettes and shadows! Very well done!
TFS!
Cheers,
Marci

By idea, creativity and result I think this is the one I like the best of your postings so far Anouk.
The light is very difficult but the effect, persons and shadows is most interesting and effectful. The sun in the back is handled just within the critical point of becoming too dominating white. Very good.

It's a very interesting composition, and playing with light and shadows. The buildings come to the front because of the backlight (especially in the right), the silhouette of walking people, and their shadows on the boardwalk are nice too. The element I like in this photo is also the colour of the sky.

hello anouk
this picture makes my eyes blind as i look at the screen... the sun is so bright... i just hope you were not looking at it directly through your viewfinder. :)that aside, i like this capture a lot. the light sliding over the street stones, the silhouetted people and the city buildings. i guess, my preference would be to have the sun not as central as it is in this case. (either a bit lower, accentuating more sky, or much higher, accencuating more of the street). but that's just my nitpicking. hope you don't mind.
my compliments and TFS
warm regards,
kristaps
