Photographer’s Note
Ko Phi Phi Leh was the backdrop for the 2000 movie The Beach. Phi Phi Leh also houses the 'Viking Cave', from which there is a thriving bird's nest soup industry. There was criticism during filming of 'The Beach' that the permission granted to the film company to physically alter the environment inside Phi Phi Islands National Park was illegal.
Following the release of The Beach, tourism on Phi Phi Don increased dramatically, and with it the population of the island. Many buildings were constructed without planning permission-wikipedia

Hello Claire,
Great photo, I was scheduled to visit Phi Phi 3 times during my stay in Phuket. All were cancelled due to horrible weather conditions and high seas. Not to worry, still had a good time and hope to get back again someday.
Excellent composition here, and delightful lighting, colours, saturation and framing. All that is holding this image back is the heavy compression artifacts in the sky and water. I have provided a simple workshop to show you how easy it is to eliminate. Also, I think that you have used an unsharp mask here which has given a light halo edge to the rock outcrops. I think that is a little overdone but it is all personal taste.
Thanks for posting.
Matt

Beautiful sharp detail and colour seen on the rocks Claire, but it appears overdone on the edges (with haloing) and you probably didn't need it on the sky and water. This may have contributed to your artefacts in the sky as well. I don't know what software you use, but if you use photoshop or some other type with layers you can sharpen, then mask down on the areas (edges etc.) where you don't want to see it.
Thanks, John

Hello Claire,
fantastic shapes and colours. Good compo. For me too much noise.
Best regards

Hello Claire,
Beautiful colors in the water, sky, and rocks in this hidden treasure for so many years.
Well captured, and indeed a photo to lure tourism...

hi Claire
Composition .. great .. Color Palette ... great ...
but too much noise in the sky ... mixed in with a halo where the sky meets the land (I think from sharpening) ... still a well composed image of a striking place ..
take care,
John
