Photographer’s Note
Burgstaaken is a small combined commercial and yachting port on the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn. It is located on the southern coast, part of the Burger bay. It is fortified against the Baltic Sea. The port is named after Staakensweg - an old cobblestone street - that used to connect the main city with an old castle of the middle ages. (freely translated from Wickipedia).
The title refers to the smaller "red-capped" building. It was the headquarters of the Fehmarn Belt pilots, (Lotsen = Pilot Huus = (lower German ) House) which used to guide ships though the passage between Fehmarn and Denmark.
