Photographer’s Note

Mount Kilimanjaro, straddling the Tanzania/Kenya border, is notoriously hard to photograph due to the clouds which form almost every morning and thicken throughout the day. The best time to get a view of the mountain is early in the morning.

Kilimanjaro's highest point is Uruhu Peak. At 5895m above sea level this makes it the highest mountain in Africa. Kilimanjaro is a non-active volcano and, since it rises directly from the surrounding plains, it is considered the World's highest free-standing mountain

This picture was taken before dawn using a hand-held camera, therefore some sharpening has been used.
