Photographer’s Note
Crypt Lake (1945 m) is the end of a popular hiking trail in Waterton Lakes National Park. At the end of July, ice is still lingering on the lake shore, and will likely remain there unless the summer proves to be a very hot one. In the areas with shallow water plenty of red, spawning trout, difficult to catch on film.
Waterton Lakes is probably the best area for spotting a black or grizzly bear in Alberta. I haven't seen any that day, but a party hiking ten minutes ahead of us had a close encounter with a young grizzly on the trail, and on the way back there were fresh diggings around the path. If I regret not seeing one... no, not really.

In this image, I particularly like the opposition between the desolated part of the mountain and the bright curve of he trees.
The composition is excellent and the colors make me dream.
Nice shot and interesting note too, thank you Roland.

Very good picture with very good colours and almost very good exposure, you have little parts in over on the snow but it is not affecting the beautiful frame that you have posted, well done!

Very beautiful view Roland - especially the way the white ice corresponds with the white clouds. Good panoramic angle as well.

In this picture I see a , let's say, unwanted reflection. Below: blue water with white ice. Above: blue sky with small white clouds. This separated by the mountains and a line of green. I do not know if this was the meaning, but if so, you saw that very well. Other than that it is of course a great view.
PS: keep on watching out for bears.

Colors and contrasts are great here. I love neat colors of the sky and water. I like too the ice's color under the water. The sharpness is excellent too. Your notes on the nature and bears make me dream about America. Wonderful sight, Roland!

well composed and the scene is very nice. I also like the cloud and the ice. The color of the lake might be a little too dark to my sense. Good work anyway.

Very beautiful capture Roland, nicely composed. I imagine it is possible to make a bad image out of these gorgeous ingredients, but you surely put them together in a fine way. Colors and details are nicely rendered, though there is a bit of noise in the blue sky that could be eliminated in post-processing work. I might have cropped a bit at the left edge so the diagonal of the mountain side would run directly to the corner, but that is really nitpicking since this is such a lovely image. Well done.

The deep blue colour of the water and of the sky are probably accentuated by the use of a circular polarizer. this makes an excellent composition, well contrasted and totally in the cold tones (which is appropriate for this place).

Fine details of the grand landscape. I like the inclusion of the ice as a fine balance to the clouds in the sky. Well done Rroland

The use of a tripod has given you time to compose this shot. The mountains placed as a "V" in the centre of the frame framing the cumulus clouds above. The curved sweep of the lakeside is ideal plus the use of the snow covered ground in the foreground. A good expample of why a tripod is worth the hassle of carrying it to such a remote place.
