St. John Kaneo - Ohrid
Just above a small fishing settlement, on a cliff rising up from Ohrid Lake, stands one of the most magnificent churches in all of Macedonia.

Built in the honor of St. John the Theologian, St. Kaneo with its sublime atmosphere and views of the placid lake below remains an inspiring place for spiritual contemplation.

The church, which was consecrated at the end of the 13th century, was built on a rectangular stone base. Its exterior is decorated with ceramic decorative sculptures and stone carvings.

Though the fresco painters are unknown, the fragments that have been preserved are of exceptional quality; The Communion of the Apostles and the portraits of St. Clement, St. Erasmus and Constantine Kavasilas especially stand out.

An extraordinarily unique construction, built as it is from a combination of Byzantine and Armenian architectural styles, St. Kaneo is indeed one of the most beautiful churches in Macedonia and in the whole Balkan region.

Zdravo Zorica,

odlicna slika dvoje raznolikih motiva. Hladno ozadje zasnezenih vrhov in topli klif prijetne cerkvice na vrhu. Cudovito!

Zorica,
Your composition and POV are great placing the church to one side of the photo and showing the boats and lake on the other. The lighting and colors are good with excellent sharpness and detail. I think a polarizing filter would have helped this photo eliminating the glare of the harsh lighting and making the colors more vibrant.

Belle photo de cette grande bâtisse avec ces grands jardins en paliers, jolies couleurs et bonne netteté de l' ensemble même si les sommets des mopntagnes a l' arrière plan sont dans une petite brûme. Belle profondeur de champs, bon POV.

Zdravo Zorice. Istina je da to je divna crkvica. Promisli, biti unutra i hodati okolo, i niko tu osim tebe- i golema tisina. To se meni dogodilo kad sam prvi put posjetio Makedoniju. Nezaboravni momenat. Nadam se da cu pokazati jednu ili dvje slike kad nabavim scanner za B&W filmove.Ljepa je ova tvoja, vrlo fini PoV.Pozdrav. Klaudio.

The sunlight brings out the church and land on the left hand side very wonderfully. Especially with the rather hazy view of the mountain in the background. Good inclusion of the boat too. Thanks for sharing!
