Photographer’s Note

He is sitting in the restaurant I visited for a snack, and tea. He is holding a eatable nut from the tree out front. Sangla is small village high up in the Himalayas. The passes are snowed in most of the year, so only a couple of months in summer can visitors arrive. The road coming from the other direction through Jammu and Kinnuar has been unrepaired for many years, and impossible to use all the way, when I was there. You must trek for several days at least, at the best. The people are very sweet and kind here. A lady gathered and cracked these nuts for me to taste, gave me free tea and sweets.
