Paris Quartier d'été festival, again.
Historical centre of wine trade in Paris, the Bercy warehouses have disappeared. Instead of this village within the city, you find an all-sports palate, brand new IRS headquarters, many offices, hotels for businessmen, some lodgings too, a Métro station, a park (at last) and also a commercial zone set in fully renovated buildings. Obviously, the rails which were used to transport the barrels, are still embedded in the paved roadway. But the heart of the place has been replaced by a consumerist demonstration with interchangeable logos. Buy, buy, good people, there's nothing more to do and see...
Until three performers of the company Mi-Octobre (mid-October) appear, wrapped in dozens of air rubber balloons! Jumping, climbing on benches, crawling, lying down in the street, climbing on each other, dancing and running, playing their wake with their bubbly coat. As they go on, a few balloons burst, here and there, some fly away, others escape to be cuddled by children's arms. Temporary amazement surges, with different reactions: delight (to say the least!), distance or indifference. What'll last once they'll have gone? Smiles and fond memories for some. Not much for many of the others, I'm afraid. Travelling acrobats? Are you sure? You must be joking! Why can't you let us get back to our previous life, without any unnecessary worries besides bank accounts, credit card balances, Luc Besson's movie productions, latest trends, football matches scores, and so on?
