First day of the Chamba festival, the officals arrive at the temples with blaring car horns. They travel full speed through crowded city streets honking contuinously. They come with armed police, guns ready, to honor the Gods.

Interesting note. I like your idea for this shot but I think it fails for me because the subject is too far from the crowd, and we can't see what they're praying to - or for that matter half of the gun itself. (You could have told me it was your mate Rajeev and his fold-up telescope and I would have believed you!) Good ideas, lots of good ideas .. let's see some more shooting. Don't get yourself stuck in an anti-police rut!

Hi Gloria,
Great colors again. This reminds me so many Hindou services that I assisted, all people praying towards a very dark irrecognizable black statue colorful dressed. The atmosphere is always at the same time serene and so tensed by the prayers. I like that Indian with his big video-camera to impress everybody, they are always showy with those things. Indeed it would be most unrespectful to photo them in their face while they are praying so it is a pity but acceptable you 'shoot' them in the back as they are only local officials showing off most of the time looking upon simple people as their slaves and exploiting them without any shame by corruption. Those few are the people who are really putting India down to stay poor and maybe they pray to keep it this way .... that good man who really wants to do something for his country by politics is still an exception to the rule .

Gloria:

Nice to see you are ok, nice posting showing the ceremony.
