A carefull guard? (I)

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
We are now on the verge of departing and I could not resist to take a few pictures of our watch dog, probably a frontier guard, who was standing on the pier just as in Riga. This a reminder of a time the youngest TE members have not known, before the fall of the USSR.
Since we were a foreign ship in Estonia, then a member of the USSR, we were carefully looked after (or looked on, it depends) by a guard all the day long (of course, there were several releases during the day). But sometimes the trusted guarded was looking the wrong way, like here, when a train is just passing on the pier... You will see the face of this unattentive guard in workshop.
But wre have also been attentive to them, since when we had a party on board, the duty guard was not forgotten.
PS Elements 5.0
The first picture could not be treated with Neatimage and is thus more grainy than the one in workshop. |

Bonjour Emmanuel,
Amicalement.
Daniel.

I enjoy pictures of this vintage. You can even see the CCCP decal on the locomotive. What a wonderful trip it must have been. Well done.
Hello Emmanuel,
Even if you had no notes it was obvious that this was a latter day Cold War photo. Your photo is filled with tension and intrigue. The criss-crossing of all of the ropes adds to the unease and guard looking away tells the viewer that taking this shot was taboo. This is great editorial photography and really deserves more response that you have received. This would make an excellent photo in a book about the Cold War. Excellent sharpness and detail. There is much more to good photography than pretty postcard images. This is really interesting to look at. Im glad that the guard didn't hear the shutter! Good job!
Stan
Hi Emmanuel,
Great picture with great humor!
I like the way you tied up the guard. It is also funny he put on the cap with a suitable colour with the train.
