Salut Kristine, and welcome back :) I just wanted to close for tonight but then I saw this one and I had to leave an "earnest" word - just kidding! This is simply outstanding and it seems that you have found your own special photo world with these dark-in-dark photos and the little bit of light that you leave that show a lot without showing too much but enough to let us take part and giving us an idea what was going on. Yet another crappy shot...????
No - I don't think so...
It's actually quite charming.
And - even though the theme can be perceive as a one of those very, very popular themes (the black silhouettes against the lights of the firecrackers!!!) - the photo you presented is adorable enough to revoke some New Year's holiday spirit back in me - again.

well done, indeed. nice ambience and good sharpness. content-wise I love the tonality game between the blue of the fireworks and the burning doll on the right side. nonetheless, i agree with george, that compositionally, the scene would be more efficient without the bonfire remains on the right. if that got cloned out, probably a vertical crop composition would become an appealing option.

Hi Kristine, your serie of new year in banos is really good, i think this one is one of the best as i see the orientation and repartition of comments on this serie. I fully agree with that point and this one has really something special. All that black only broken by this blue flash and those 2 silhouettes, yes this is great.

Hello Kristine,
A very beautiful shot with a great "minimalistic" quality to it. The fireworks are perfectly captured and the sillouettes of the onlookers are perfect. Sometimes we photographers put too much detail in a scene, and we need to get to the compositional basics. Your lighting and composition are wonderful and tell a simple but dynamic "New Years Eve" tale. Also a great job of giving us a great variety of travel images to enjoy! Very impressive scene!
