Photographer’s Note
A belated Happy New Year to Everyone!
I haven't had many chances to photograph recently due to a busy schedule and very poor weather so I am posting one that I took in autumn.
This is a scene from my local village. The cottages are about 200 hundred years old and are built on quite a steep hill. I like the way they are stepped back from the road and how they each have their own individual character!
Although it was autumn, the weather was glorious and the low sun created lovely long shadows from the houses opposite and highlighted the walls where there were gaps in the houses.
pp cropped, adj levels, added borders and signed.
Many thanks for your visit.
Please feel free to offer comments on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Happy New Year to you too Bev.
One thing we do well in the UK is cottages. This is a nice capture, I like the succession of three. Maybe less of the side on the right would have enhanced the composition further. Just a suggestion and a matter of taste though. I'll post a WS and see what you think.
Best wishes

Hello, Bev.
And a Happy New Year to you and yours too!
This is great. I love the colours and the lighting and the whole picture is as sharp as a pin. Perfectly exposed too with all detail preserved in the darkest and lightest bits.
You are indeed lucky to live in such a beautiful village.
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Bev,
While you're shivering, here it's 41C today in Melbourne, and to be 41 again tomorrow. Which would you prefer?
Me, I'd prefer to be in this village of yours, in October by the look of it. Terrific shot, with a very gentle autumnal light showing up the different colours of the houses, and a very good exposure of the shaded part. I don't think Mark's WS does anything to improve it; for a start I like the slightly rectangular landscape format, but also the right hand gable for balance and completion. Good sharpness and a nice sky to top it all off. You are lucky to be living in what appears to be a very harmonious environment (and where I doubt it will ever get up to 41 deg!).
Regards and best wishes for this year,
Andrew

Hello Beverley,
The afternoon light adds charater to the buildings!
I like the point of view that gives nice exposure of the architecture...
A well balanced composition with a good diagonal!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Beverley,
These wonderful traditional English cottages are bathed in lovely soft shadows. The fine details and character are well seen against the beautiful blue sky.
Regards, Tom
