Photographer’s Note
I took this photo on the same day we went to Estonia--the day of the raging blizzard (this is akin to my Estonian Nights series). I am supposed to meet my girlfriend in the Kauppahalli (market place hall) in ten minutes so we can rush over to the ferry terminal and the Etelaesplenadi (esplanade) is the only way I won't get lost on my way to the waterfront.
Etelaesplenadi is a long, tree lined path in the center of a two-way road. In the summer you will see musicians playing for change (I have a fond memory of being allowed a few strokes on one man's musical saw), vendors selling wool socks and other northern usuals, and a great crowd at the glass house cafe. On this day, however, most people were smart enough to be inside their homes, drinking gloggi, perhaps, looking out their windows at the foolish American boy freezing his fingers off so that he could remember this moment...
Contrast boost done in PS, otherwise no changes.

very interesting and nice colours composition. blacks and blues against yellow-red lights of lamps. if I were you, I would crop out the box on the right and clone out remaining branches on the top right.
well done. thanks for sharing

Too blue for me. I would prefer the natural colour. Apart from this, the shot is beautiful. I feel the temperature from Paris where it is now 30 degrees celsius.

This is a lovely streetscape. Although the bluish cast is evident (but not too bad on my monitor at work), it may be caused somewhat by the conditions: it's dark outside there are lights.
It can easily be adjusted by using a technique that Adrian taught me in a workshop: http://www.trekearth.com/workshops/32786/photo6899.htm.

Nice shot. It will be looking like this near where I live before too long. I like the color adjusted version but also blue "cool" tone version. It just depends on one's mood I guess.

Hi Jacob. This is a very nice capture. I can feel the cold Finnish night.
In your intro you write you've been to Denmark (I live there), did you take any pictures you would like to share on TE?
Cheers Jorn

What a great light, what a nice blue treatment (one may say it´s too much but I like it; it gives consistency to the picture...), what a great shot! Very good contrast of the snow in the nearest plan.
Everything fits and gets together to make this a singular moment, Jakob, even the single figure on the intermediate plan, the dim artificial lights, as well as the perspective contribute to emphasize the emptyness, the loneliness and nevertheless the deep beauty. Congratulations!
