Photographer’s Note
Taken from midstream of Joffre Creek in between Lower and Middle Joffre Lakes. The park itself is accessed off of the Sea-to-Sky Highway, near Pemberton in British Columbia. Carved out by glaciers, the lakes are a mysterious blue-green color. It is said that Upper Joffre Lake is the most stunning, but sadly I only made it to the middle one, as I was running short on time. The trail is steep, wet, and rocky in places. Proper footwear is important.
I used a low POV and obviously a slow shutter speed to blur the water. Resized for TE.

Beautiful stream shot, one of the better I've seen. I love the texture on the rocks and the wood.

Hi Rob,
I can never get tired of streams and forests. This must be tied to my having grown up in the Great Lakes region of the US. I enjoy your composition and POV. The rendition of the trees and logs at the top is super! I think there are two things you might use to get even better shots in the future. First, I think you'll find a polarizer a handy addition to your gear. It will help saturate the colors in scenes like this and cut down on reflection/glare (when undesired). It also helps get even slower shutter speeds for more motion blur when desired. The other thing has to do with composition. I find it useful to not let the white water run directly out of the frame. I find that it tends to lead my eye out of the picture rather than back into it. To mitigate this I try to compose so that there is something like a rock or log there to stop my eye from immediately leaving the image.
I'm envious that you live so close to this beauty!

I like the low POV Rob. The log alsmost cuts this image in half and when I move my screen to crop off the top half there is a pleasing image of just the water in itself. Nicely exposed with good DOF.
