what catches my eyes is this red former beauty who was so well preserved. Everything here is in harmony, there is nothing wrong.
The old Istanbul, certainly is one of the wonders of the world, and under the snow it is even more fascinating.
The very good colour management preserves well this outdated aspect.

Sehirde kar sadece eziyet benim icin. Camurlu sokaklar, haftalarca cozulmeyen buz ve kar kumeleri, kayip dusme korkusu, acik gibi gorunen yollarda gizli buz tabakasi riski...Off, yeter artik bahar gelsin dedirten bir manzara. Fotografa sozum yok, gercekten cok guzel. Tramvayiyla ve kar taneleriyle neredeyse romantik bir havasi var erken saate ragmen. O saatte sadece fotograf cekmek icin mi yollara dustunuz diye merak ettim.

Merhaba Mesutcugum,

Harika bir fotograf, Istabul'u ne kadar özledigimi hatirlatti. Peder'i kaybedeli dört yil olucak (14 Subat'da), ve ondan bir kaç yil evvel ayni bir havada buralardan yürüÿerek geçmistik. Her gün biraz yürürdü, ve Taksim'den Galataya kadar, iyi havada da Tunel'e kadar da giderdi -- arkasinda da genç korumalari!

Bugünlerde ben de hiç resim çekemedim, fakat National Geographic için yeni kitabi bitirdim. (Ingilizce, "I put it to bed!" derler. What a relief! It is a combination of the greatest art from the Renaissance and world class National Geographic photographs.)

I would normally complain about a centrally placed main subject, but here the red tram is perfect. All the perspective lines of the street lead the eye to it, although because of its striking red colour we don't need leading. The muted tones are wonderful for conveying the atmosphere of the inclement weather. Goos work

this is unfair! No snow yet in Belgium...:-)

Very lovely catch, full of life, good composition with that red tram, the people going all directions, the slight fog and the falling snow give a great effect of cold...even though the tram is in the middle here it does not disturb at all, it rather gives a nice symmetry. Well done!

Mesut bey inanin bu karenizi gorunce icim gitti. Hep dusunuyorum kar yagdiginda insanlar sokaklara ususmeden Istanbulun nispeten bos ve karlar altindaki halini fotograflamayi. Karenize bakinca bu dusunduklerimi buldum sanki. Nefis bir kare. TE de ki en basarili Istiklal caddesi karelerinden biri kesinlikle. Ellerinize saglik. Iyi hafta sonlari.

Ein sehr stimmungsvolles Foto, das eine wirklich winterliche Impression vermittelt. Wunderschön, wie man die Flocken in ihrer Bewegung erkennen kann. Die alte Straßenbahn ist ein herlicher Blickfang. Ich werde ein bißchen neidisch, weil es hier regnet und das Glatteis gerade geschmolzen ist.

Na, das sieht ja ganz schon heftig aus. Wir hatten am 1. Januar auch ein wenig Schnee, aber bei weitem nicht soviel. Nach dem überaus warmen Winter des letzten Jahres, scheint ja nun - zumindes vorübergehende - Normalisierung eingesetzt zu haben. Schönes "daily life" Foto.

Très belle scène de la vie quotidienne. La neige ne doit pas être coutumière à Istambul. La couche me semble déjà importante. Ton image est bien composée ave ce tram rouge qui apporte une touche de couleur dans une image grise.

This young man on the foreground shows clearly how ruf this first snow day was in Istanbul, also the snow falling gives a sense of coldness.
The tram gives a nice touch of colour to the photo.

A wonderful picture, which looks like if it came out straight from a Charles Dickens story.
Very good light management gave as result a perfect color balance with the red tram to make a very interesting contrast with the rest soft colors of the composition.

Mesut,
as weird it might sound, I was hoping to get snow while I was in Istanbul. It might be OK for you to see snow in your city, but for a foreigner this looks quite exotic. Great compoistion using the tram as a contrast against the intense snowing. I love the shot, very good!
